The other day I was driving close to this fire department and due to red light we had to stop just behind the red area before reaching the firehouse where we should stop during traffic. Then I noticed there is a large fire truck behind me with beacon lights on, so I thought I have to move little forward so that they can pass on my right side bcuz another car kinda blocked them. The driver could then easily pass the fire department and came back using rear gear to park inside the building but meanwhile he was almost hitting my car carelessly with high speed without looking at all, so I had to use my honk and then he suddenly turned and shouted out of the window and scared the hell out of me and my friend and shouted YOU STAY BACK while I went forward to help him!!! It was very strange because I am a doctor and I always respect first responders and I see them as my colleagues. I have been in so many stressful situations during work but I have never lost it like that!! I respected him by going forward when he was behind me to make sure he can reach his destination ASAP even though he was not in my lane. I helped him but he shouted horribly instead. I didn't talk to him at all because I was shocked and I just drove back so that he can park without hitting my car but it took me 20 min to get back to my normal heart rate! The difficulty of the job doesn't justify scaring citizens like that especially the ones who try to respect and help...
Read moreMy daughter wanted to take baked goods to say thank you to them. She started this project back in the summer. On a rare weekend in the city we wanted to do a CFD. So this one was close to our parking garage. Upon walking up a bay door was open and we walked up. From where we were-we could see 2 people sitting at a table and a man 10 feet in front of us in uniform speaking to 2 adults in street clothes--possibly other visitors. He seemed bothered to be interrupted but asked how he could help. So my daughter said "we have baked goods" and he took the bags from her, barely said hello or asked what was there much less said thank you. After an awkward 30 seconds he went back to talking to the others and I said "well have a nice day". My daughter didn't even get a photo with anyone and was so disappointed. They were the 20th station she donated baked goods to. I spent our drive home trying to explain it was bad timing but knowing others in the fire service I was assured this is not how they would normally treat a young visitor. Disappointed but...
