On 12/29/24 had a new hot water tank in the back of my truck and it started to rain so I went in to Menards to get a tarp and some other items including a tool to cut the water lines for the hot water tank. I ended up buying $100 in merchandise. I checked out and when i got to my truck I relized i was missing the bag with the tarp, the pipe cutter, toilet flange kit, wax ring and tolit flange bolts. $50 in items. I haden been out of the store more then 5 min so I immediately walked back in the store to the customer service desk and informed them i had forgotten one of my bags. She pretends to care and tells me she is going to check the cameras she is gone for 10 min or so while its pouring rain soaking the new hot water tanks box. i bought the tarp to cover it. She finally comes back to tell me the people behind me took the bag and theres nothing Menards will do about it. They cant help in any way. So if theres nothing they will do to help why did she waste my damn time to check the cameras holding me up for an additional 10 minutes smfh. If she knew they dont care and theres nothing Menards will do she should have just told me that instead of pretending she was gonna help. Lowes is right down the street and thats where I'll be shopping from now on and I'd advise anyone else do the same. I'll defiantly be returning the other half of the crap i bought that the people behind me didn't get. So basicallyMernards is saying if you notice someone ahead of you in line forgets to take some of the Merchandise they paid for you can go ahead and take it as yours, they are fine with that. Mernards has very pour...
Read moreI shouldn't have to ask for help! I made a trip to Menards in Chillicothe because we were putting up a new vinyl picket fence and we were needing one additional section, 8 end caps for our post and some hardware.
Although the section that I needed was it heavy there was a young man driving a forklift directly in front of me in the same aisle and never offered to ask me if he could help me in any way. In addition the in caps that I needed I could only find five of the eight and with nobody around to assist me I now have to go to another Menards to finish our project. Even if there were only 5 in-store it would have been nice if the young man would have taken the initiative to assist.
When leaving the store the cashier asked me if I needed assistance putting the fence in my vehicle and I said no thank you I've done it all so far but I appreciate the offer. Her reply was yeah, it's almost impossible to get anybody around here to help you if you need help you have to ask for it.
Maybe it was Pride or just my stubbornness but I'm not going to ask someone for help when they could see that I was looking for something isn't that what their job is? I thought that was part of customer service.... we just spent over $1,100 for the fence that we are installing, but next time we'll probably think twice before shopping at Menards...
Read moreI would like to recognize Bill Nelson, customer service manager at the store located 1570 N Bridge st Chillicothe Ohio. I purchased a set of lawnmower blades at the end of march, apparently craftsman has the wrong label on my mower and has the number for a set of 42 in blades not the 46 that it is, I mowed the first time and it was leaving a strip down the lawn, I mow about 3 to 4 acres and some of it is pretty rough, I mowed three times with the blades before i had the time to return them. I am a store manager myself with a large pharmacy corporation ,and have seen my share of fraudulent refunds, but also realize that the few bad customers is a drop in the bucket of actually taking care of the good ones. I have bought all the materials for my pole barn garage about 4 thousand dollars at menards, in the near future I will be replacing my roof for about 3 thousand. not to mention my front deck that I will be replacing soon and building a walk-in shower in my master bath soon. that is a whole lot of busines to lose over a 40 dollar exchange. Bill Nelson made the right call and I sincerely hope your management staff can learn from this simple example.good customer service can go...
