Wow shockingly horrible experience and one I regret. I have been to several Texas Roadhouse restaurants in the past and this restaurant experience was absolutely the worst Texas Roadhouse (TR) and perhaps the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
It was only a ten minute wait for a table of 5 at 8:20 PM which is pretty good based off of previous TR experiences. The hostess brought bread to the table however we didn’t receive silverware until after our beverages were served. That would have been fine but it took 10 minutes for our waitress to greet us another 7 for beverage delivery and 3 minutes after this we received silverware. While many would have seen this as a problem, it really didn’t bother me one bit. They were busy the server was in the “weeds” and the one thing my family and I had to look forward to was the consistent high quality food we have become accustomed to whenever we go to a TR.
Well folks as it turns out this time we were greatly disappointed. Since we lacked the knifes to butter the buns they were cold, and so was the chili I ordered, my first bite revealed it wasn’t even room temperature I stirred in the cheese and it wouldn’t even melt. Our server did not follow up right away so we needed to flag down another server to return the chili, another cup arrived shortly after and it was at least room temperature but it tasted a little bit odd so that too was returned. The server then told me that a lot of chili orders had been returned that night! I said it could get people sick, to which she agreed. (More on this later)
It took nearly 45 minutes to get our food after it was ordered. During this time we watched people sat after us get their food much sooner pay and leave before we receive our meals!
As for the quality of everything else, the kids burger was fine, the sirloins were good but my ribeye was also a touch cold. My side of mash potatoes were starchy and tasted like vegetable juice - they were clearly undercooked. The server did not return to the table after the food was delivered. No refills no offer of desert and I needed to track down the hostess to get our check.
Now it is almost 4AM I started writing this at 3 but have been battling serious stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. I could feel this coming on since midnight. This is horrible- why would any restaurant feed people cold undercooked food!!!
Beware of this Texas Roadhouse- if they cut corners like this and serve cold undercooked chili and keep serving it to patrons after they know it’s a problem they either don’t know the risks or...
Read moreYou need to take into consideration not all situations make it easy to engage management. We were having a celebratory dinner in which we were being treated to dinner. It was a a bad experience we were trying to make the most of anyway - and we certainly didn't want to add to the negative atmosphere by engaging management.
Perhaps if your restaurant as a whole was better prepared for Sunday guests, things would've been better. Cramming a party of 8 into a booth that wasn't made for 8 adults (instead of just telling us it was going to be a tight fit before we waited a half hour - and letting us decide if that would be okay or not) was a little complex to start off with. Then we had to go chase someone down to ask for a chair so we truly could all fit at the booth because when we were sat nobody ensured we were good.
Not going to go into everything. Too much to list. But no silverware or napkins until well after we received our drinks (which was quite the wait) - then to have to ask (repeatedly) for rolls - then to have to ask why no cinnamon butter (you're out of cinnamon butter?!?!?).... Ended up bothering another waiter to ask him to get us silverware. He was very pleasant and got 8 sets for us.
Not going to go into everyone's meal. But myself, 16oz Ft Worth Ribeye. Ordered medium. Overall it was cooked medium (warm pink inside) - but over 1/2 of it was charred on the outside. Charred is an understatement. It was burnt. For the first time in I'd say 10 years I actually put steak sauce on a steak.
I might've said something to our waitress had she come back around to really check on things.....
But I wasn't there to complain. I was there for a celebratory occasion with my family and was being treated to a "nice" dinner by family members (who are on a fixed income) who wanted us to go out and "go all out" and have a nice dinner.
Maybe now you understand why I didn't go running down management.
Perhaps if management did what management should do - and do walk troughs and proactively check on their customers...
Hope the...
Read moreFirst, let me start by saying my family and I are huge fans of this franchise so we were excited to find one when visiting Chillicothe. Our excitement soon turned to dismay as this particular experience was less than mediocre. Secondly, I generally don't write negative reviews, but feel compelled to write this one. My family and I were in town to see Tecumseh and the show started promptly at 8 o'clock. We called ahead to the restaurant and got on the waiting list at 5:34. They texted back stating our wait time was 45-55 minutes. When we arrived I responded to the text with 'Here' as instructed. I also approached the hostess station to let her know we were there, that we had time constraints with the show and would appreciate anything they could do to get us seated earlier. The hostess told me our seating time would be 6:25. Knowing time would be tight, we looked over the menu to decide on our orders and I got everyone's drinks from the bar in hopes of saving some time. At 6:25 I approached the hostess station explaining we were running out of time and was told that we still had another 15 minutes on our wait time. When I explained that we had called ahead, the hostess informed me the wait time didn't start until we checked in with her at the hostess station. What is the point of calling ahead if your wait time starts when you check in with the hostess? Rather than argue about the absurdity of her statement, we just left. Waited/wasted almost an hour, and never got close to a chair. We ended up across the street at the Chinese place, had a decent meal and made it to the show on time. On a positive note, Tecumseh was a great time.
And to Jill, the hostess, if you're reading this, thanks...
