I was visiting from the UK, travelling around the north USA, booking hotels during the afternoon for that evening.||This day there wasn't much choice. It was rated 3-star by BOOKING dot COM and was the most expensive hotel of my 2 week visit. ()||Chillicothe has some nice places nearby, historical sites and also it has a nice state park. However downtown it feels a bit run down.||The hotel is downtown off the main road, and not in the nicest of settings, however there did seem to have been an effort outside to make it look clean and tidy and for some reason I remember the blue lighting shone on the wall.||The reception and breakfast area was small, suggesting more a 2-star than a 3-star.||The room was smallish, but perfectly OK. The bathroom was particularly small.|The bathroom must have been renovated. The shower had a sliding glass door and was lovely and clean. The sink area was granite (or the like), but bizzarely the basin must have been the original as the glaze was cracked. The electrical panel also looked like it was the original as the plastic was discoloured and it didn't look new. Perhaps the owner needed to save a few dollars here and there, which is a pity.||So I tried the TV, but all I got was Disney channel. I could change volume, switch on/off but I could not change channel. Up/down did not work. I wondered if it was set in childrens mode, so went to reception to ask. They provided new batteries for the remote but that did not help, so came along to take a look. Apart from briefly getting a different channel, they couldn't make channel change work. So I couldn't use the TV for Discovery/History. Again not what is expected at the price I paid.||The room had a telephone and behind the red plastic filter 3 lights were flashing on and off, as if there was a message. I asked reception, but they were unable to help, so I pulled the cable, as I would have been unable to sleep with a bright red flashing light in the room.||When I sat at the desk, I noted that some of the panels of the desk and cabinet were warped. Not a major issue, but not what you expect at the price I paid. ||TBH the room decor and bed linen patterns looked dated. Nevertheless it was clean.||Breakfast was OK, much the same as in other chains.||When I checked out I reported the TV problem and red flashing phone light to the receptionist. It wasn't a complaint just feedback, as I thought that they might want to sort it out for the next guest. I was asked to speak to the manager (owner?). About the non channel changing TV, there was no apology. About the red flashing lights on the phone, he told me that this "was normal" and was a way that the cleaners could see that the phone was working. I call BS. He said this was to indicate that the phone was on. We argued about the red flashing lights, something I haven't seen since my first stay in the USA in the 80's! He then said " so you want me to change the whole phone system for you?", which I found insulting. However in hindsight, I would say yes, go ahead and change your dated phone system for a more modern one where the guests won't be kept awake by a bright red flashing lights!!! It was only ever my intention to give feedback, but his attitude was as if I had personally insulted him.||This was the most disappointing stay of my visit and ironically the most expensive hotel. If you find yourself in Chillicothe, do yourself a favour and drive to Cincinati where there is a wider choice of hotels and likely better rates.||TBH I am p-ss-d at BOOKING dot COM and they have recevied my feedback about this hotel.||For the remainder of my trip I avoided any "Best Western" branded hotel. They will also get my feedback.||FWIW the hotel appeared to have an outside pool, which perhaps explains the 3-star rating.||() Perhaps the hotel jacked up the rates due to lack of availability elsewhere, but was the worst value for money of any hotel at which I stayed during my visit. I paid less to stay at Hilton Hampton Inns which all were of exceptional quality. Photos make this hotel look far nicer than it...
Read moreI stayed here for several days, 5 total actually. The room was eh, not cleaned great, but suitable enough because everything else was over $200 a night. Staff was okay the first few days, breakfast was lackluster. Only 2 options, rotated daily. Bread was often dry and never a full selection of fruits, or yogurts. Then we got a notice that it would take "ruffly" 10 minutes for our tv to be changed the following day. Cool, so when they came and took my tv at 10 (with 3 small kids in the room) and said they'd be right back, no problem! 10 minutes, maybe 20 no biggie! Well no one ever comes back. So I stick my head out and yell and ask what's going on, they say they'll be to me shortly. Okay, this is an hour into it so far. Within the next hour, I ask housekeeping and get a blunt response of "they'll be there shortly they have to do all the rooms" because THEY REMOVED EVERYONES TV AT ONCE. THEN BEGAN PROGRAMMING THEM 1 BY 1. After 2 hours and 15 minutes, I call the hotel, since I'm alone with my 3 kids. I asked Amanda when my tv would be tended to, because at the beginning of this process,I was told to leave my door latch open, so the door remained ajar, and I needed to shower, and I had to go to work! Amanda says she'll call me right back with an update (12:15pm 11/20) 12:38 Housekeeping comes to inform me that I can go ahead and shower,it's still going to be awhile. I tell her I'd like to talk to someone with jurisdiction 12:45 Amanda knocks and comes in, immediately rude and telling me "it isn't their fault it's taking so long, they had technical issues, they have to program the tvs one by one" So i asked her if this was not planned during this time because the hotel would be mostly empty, however our room wasn't and we weren't updated by them at all as the process continued. We were left without a tv for now 3 hours, and my room left ajar, without being informed after being initially told it would take 10 minutes, and Amanda snapped at me and told me if I didn't like it I could check out and stay else where. I told her that the job she is doing there, literally cost me time at my job, and I was unable to use my paid for room to it's full extent due to her lack of communication and failure to perform the duties in a timely manner for the guests she did still have there (she told me I wasn't the only one dealing with this, she had 28 other guests, however at this point a decent amount of the people were gone, as I'd been watching them leave) The stay was subpar at best, but Amanda really took it home for her poor behavior, poor management and all around an experience i will not subject...
Read moreUpon arrival employees were very friendly and inviting and informative of info needed. I didn't spend much time in my room during the day, out doing what I was in town for. I was here for 3 days. Once my trash was full I decided to empty it and when I pulled the bag out, that trash can was disgusting. Went to put drink in frige and upon first glance it looks clean until you bend down to set things on shelf and you can see all the previous bottle and can 'rings' on the shelves, etc...where it was not cleaned from previous stay/s. Went to use blow dryer...OMG there it was filthy...opted not to use. Changed toilet paper on last evening there and had to take off rod to put new role on...completely filthy inside. Hair on top of the ceiling in bathroom, all kinds of stuff on the walls under the sink...lamps dirty and the list goes on. On second day of my 3 day stay I had to go to clerk to find out why my card would not allow me to enter my room....not fun to do when you have to go through a few doors with your hands full of stuff...no explanation but she did something and handed it back and said it's good now....so I went on as I was tired. Got into room and the wifi code previously given was no longer good...apparently they change it spot on week to week - which I found out after calling the desk to see what the issue was. Glad they do this but if you have a guest staying during a change that you know is taking place...How about call your guests and giving them the knew info in advance. I will say if you are looking for a reasonable stay, convenient to all of Chillicothe and friendly employees...but not caring about cleanliness....this is your place. I will say the bed was...
