I've been here twice. First experience was good. Food was fine. Service was good. Second experience my gf ordered pick up ( from the door dash app I assume) lady at the desk asked if I was the door dash driver. I told her "no I'm the boyfriend that was sent on the run to get our meal." She asked if I had my phone. I said in my car. This isn't even needed but I told her I could "call my gf to confirm she placed the order." She did give me our food but was pretty rude during the experience and said "well next time you need to have your phone I'm sorry." After spending $50 on the order and being treated like that, there won't be a next time. To the person who owns this establishment, your employee needs an attitude adjustment. I've worked in fast food and customer service so I get it, the customer isn't always right and some people aren't honest in this day and age but I'm not gonna show you my phone and I'm not about to be treated like a thief when I spent $50 at your establishment. I only need to confirm who I am and who placed the order going so far as to call my gf to give the order confirmation number if they really needed it. Obviously not as I named the person who placed the order obviously knowing them and getting the food. I was a bit bothered by her demeanor pondering it so I called to get her name (she of course was the one who answered) she refused to give that out and did offer to give me her managers information. You serve the public mam, your name isn't private when you work in the service industry and I of course need it when I speak with your manager to discuss the situation. We argued back and forth on the phone until she hung up abruptly. Obviously this wasn't worth pursuing any longer to me, I just won't go back and word of mouth is everything in business and working in the healthcare industry I'm pretty well connected so if anyone asks about this establishment they're going to get an earful. I obviously don't know what day she was having but she really needs to find another line of work. Customer service ain't it. I feel sorry for anyone who comes in this place with the intentions to eat good food only to be treated like garbage. Plenty of other places that are worth a longer trip that will not treat you...
Read moreThis was my second trip to crazy dogs. To be honest, it was just going to be a quick stop for something to eat, as I really wasn't in the mood for your standard fast food fare. Boy, was I wrong.
On my first trip, unfortunately, I took no pictures, I got their Jersey dog. It was an Italian sausage sandwich with onions, peppers, pizza sauce and melted cheese. Along with it I got their house made potato chips. My wife got something called The Loaded fry dog with cheese curds. By the end of the meal I was sitting there stunned by how good the food was.
On this trip, I picked up the Chillicothe dog. A basic chili dog with onions and cheese. This time I also got French fries instead of chips. Their hot dogs are firm and meaty, the chili was on the sweet side (which isn't usually a hit for me) and you don't get a standard hot dog bun. It's more along the lines of a sub roll. If I had to make one constructive criticism, I would say just a little heat in the chili would really brighten the flavor. Their fries, are very thick, but not to the point of being steak fries. They were crunchy and brown on the outside and fluffy in the middle. What more could you ask for?
One of the owners was patrolling the floor, asking customers what they thought and if they needed anything. She was very warm and inviting. She was at the front registers on our first trip and recognized us since it had been only 2 days since we had been there. She chatted with us a little bit, and then when our food was ready, she was the one who brought it to our table. I didn't mention that you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No standing around and waiting for your food. In today's fast food shove it in your face world, it's nice to see someone who cares about what they're doing.
If you're around Chillicothe, just south of Aldi on Bridge Street, pull into the Crazy Dogs Grill and prepare to be pleasantly surprised. On an aside, they serve Perry's brand ice cream. I have yet to get any, but my friends from New York swear that...
Read moreThe trip started on Wednesday morning in Rock Hill South Carolina. Our bags were packed and we headed out on our way to Dearborn Michigan. The sites were beautiful as we drove through the mountains of West Virginia, and then into the plains of Ohio. It rained most of the time, but still was able to get some beautiful pictures. We finally reached our destination of Dearborn, Michigan after 11 hours in the truck. The hotel wasn’t bad but I didn’t get much sleep. We packed up the next morning and headed to meet Jeff to pick up the Straw Blower we were purchasing from him. Everything went smoothly and we were back on the road by 9 AM to start the trek back to South Carolina. Around 1230 we needed to stop for fuel and we’re also getting a little hungry. We jumped off Highway 23 and made our way into Chillicothe. Now, my buddy and I have a knack for finding hole in the wall places that have great reviews on Google when we are out on the road. Needless to say, this one did not disappoint as we pulled up and found a parking spot. When we got inside the owner, Debbie greeted us and explained how the menu worked. They have pictures and writing all over the wall. I joked with her and told her, we need to teach her how to make a southern hotdog (slaw, chili, onions, mustard). She said they didn’t have chili for the hotdogs but she let me try some of her homemade Coney sauce and I highly recommend it. We both ordered something a little different off the menu. When the hotdogs made it to the table, they looked exactly like the pictures. Mine was full of bacon, baked beans, barbecue, and bbq sauce. I have to say that was probably one of the best hotdogs and experiences I’ve had in a long time. Along with a hotdog. I also got waffle fries and I can honestly say they are to die for. If you ever find yourself making your way through Chillicothe, Ohio, I recommend stopping by Crazy Dogs Grill, and having one of the best meals of your life. Thank you to Debbie and her staff for making it such a...
