I come here for fresh fish, fish heads for stock, giant grouper is superb, blue crabs, some times Dungeness crabs as well, clams, lobster. Live Shrimp, two kinds! Crawfish, live, I like some of their sushi, sashimi kind. The fresh shucked oysters in a jar are plump, juicy, meaty, maybe a few hours old, look at the expiration date. I have bought sushi rolls, some are a little sweet for my taste. Fish roe is good quality. Large variety of Rice, noodles, fresh and frozen. I like the pork belly and pork meat here a lot. Also the Chinese Chicken and fresh Duck. Duck and Quail eggs. Soy sauce from Japan is available here, artisanal types. Schezuan peppercorns and many different spices, rub, marinades and sauces. The Chinese food, specially the Pork Ribs and the Red Pork are outstanding. Also the roasted Duck half or whole. Produce is very fresh and they have the autumn grapes that are tangy and very firm, absolutely delicious. Good selection of Beer as well. I prefer the Clairemont location, is a lot better supplied than the Telegraph Canyon. You can see why I love this place, I cook Chinese and Japanese food once a week at least. Chop suey being a favorite staple at home. Check them out if you live...
Read more⚠️ Racial discrimination and prejudice in customer service ⚠️ Wore a keffiyeh ( Arabic scarf) in here 12/9/24. I got lots of stares which is fine, but when it was my turn in line at the register, the woman treated me noticeably worse and rudely. The customer in front of me was greeted hello, asked if they have a membership, if they found everything they need etc, thanked by her. When it was my turn she was silent and stared angrily, no hello, didn’t even speak the words to tell me my total after she finished scanning. When I stared back at her waiting for her to speak, she just pointed at the card machine. I brought my own bag , she did help to put in my groceries but threw them in carelessly/sideways in a hurried way as if to make a point. ( there was no one behind me).
Due to the person in front of me being treated polite and normal, and me being ignored, I have to understand this as an act of anti Arab/muslim racism and prejudice.
The woman was wearing a scarf, hat, and...

Sweet Thai rice or sweet Japanese rice? There is a difference. So I went to 99 Ranch because it was closer to the 805 northbound highway. Thai rice won!
While the prices might lean a tad higher compared to the Clairemont location. It's the live crabs that bring morbid curiosity for me. I heard they scream when placed in scalding hot water. I would too. Truth be told, I'll tear crab up... As long as I'm not the one committing crabicide. Ranch 99 makes up for it with a chilled grocery-focused vibe and a case of mangoes for $5.00. Winning.
HIGH FIVES Well stocked inventory but not with Japanese or Korean I had a sushi party, bought pretty chopsticks in a package of 10 Open until 9 PM
MEH Parking- the irony is there is plenty of parking but no one knows how to drive to park. It's a parking conundrum.
