Out of all the cell phone repair shops in San Diego County, I can guarantee that Cell Repair will provide the most optimal care. David was extremely thorough in his diagnostic and repair process. I had a particularly tricky case; a phone damaged by saltwater that had been marinating for a few weeks. What should have been a short and sweet data extraction turned into several day long predicament that spanned over the labor day weekend (which yes, they were open for).
On the note of data extraction, I should note that out of the twenty-two shops I called, Cell Repair was the only one that specifically noted data extraction in their quote.
Back on topic, David has got some serious dedication and patience. In the end, he ended up having to manually backup nearly 2500+ images off of my damaged phone. Since my new phone is set to automatically synch with the cloud, I was able to see the photos upload as they came in. This took him HOURS spread out between a few days.
All this, and we paid only about $120. This may sound like a lot compared to other places that only charge half of that, but think about it. He had to clean the rust inside the old phone, switching out corroded parts. A full back up takes about an hour, so imagine doing that twice before realizing that it wasn't working how it should. Imagine having to go through someone's photos and back up each photo ONE BY ONE. Some places would charge extra for all of that extra effort. David was just focused making sure everything was taken care of.

From the get go I was suspicious that they used the cheaper IonX screen instead of sapphire because it was so easily scratched despite my taking excellent care of all my electronics. The original sapphire screen went 4 years without a single scratch. They also never provided the supplier information I requested. The receipt doesnât even say that the replacement was for the stainless version. Then go figure 5 months after the repair the screen completely cracks under my finger. Not even hard contact - just finger pressure. I took it back to them and they still insisted they used sapphire and would only take $10 off another glass replacement. Why bother if itâs going to break in another few months? If they just admitted their mistake or at least provided a reasonable discount I would have been happy. But instead they just insisted that my personal experience with the subpar screen quality had nothing to do with the obviously questionable materials or installation.
Old review: This place saved my wife's phone by fixing the audio board and camera lens, and they did both for less than what other places were charging just for the audio board. To top it off it was just a one day turnaround. Better than I could have hoped for, and it was only a fraction of the cost of replacing the phone. Definitely going back for...
Read moreThis was my go-to cell repair place. They always take good care of me. Unfortunately my last experience. I don't think they understood the problem with my phone. It took over a week to repair something that did not need to be repaired and when I got it back it wouldn't even power on. So basically I got it back in worse condition than I took it to them. The customer service is great when they're confident at what they know what they're doing. I think the problem is is that when they have an issue they don't know how to communicate or take responsibility properly. When a mistake is made. They did refund me for the repair that was not needed but still left me with a phone that was in completely unworking condition, which was kind of a bummer since I was then trading it in to Verizon and would get a full credit as long as it powered on and now looks like I won't get that full credit. It's hard for me to talk bad about this company since they have been so good in the past but I do feel I lost money on this transaction.
I understand what you're saying David but when I brought you the phone it did power on. And that's a fact. When you gave me the phone back it did not. So who's that fault for my phone not powering on after you gave it back to me? Obviously not me because of powered on when I gave it to...
