Arm yourself with this knowledge before going in. Tips before you go:
They can accept cash payments and you do not have to use the kiosk. The sales people don't like taking any customer that isn't a sale because it hurts their numbers. Beware of excuses like "we don't take cash payments", "computer is down", "I'm going home and don't have a drawer".
When signing up for new service you do not get any special extra discounts for bundling. You get the same new customer pricing for each individual service whether you bundle or not. Employees will quote you incorrectly to get you to bundle, it is a lie. For example, if you only need internet, your price is not lower if you bundle in phone.
They DO accept equipment returns and exchanges, you do NOT have to go to UPS. Again, any transaction that is not a sale hurts the employees sales numbers, so they lie and tell you excuses like they are "out of equipment" and to "go to ups", "computer is down", "you have to call customer service and have one mailed" etc. Think they're lying? Ask to see in the cupboards behind their desks and watch them refuse.
They do not tell you at signup that your new customer pricing will go away and your bill will skyrocket. When your cable bill goes up, switch to a tv streaming package for 31 days then upgrade back to your regular cable package and ALL your services will be discounted.
Yes, their mobile service is a great deal and service is good, but watch for employees that scam the system by adding new internet lines of service to get their sales numbers up.
Beware that some employees are so shady that they allow people with delinquent accounts to start new services in other people's names without them knowing just to get a sale.
If you need to do an account takeover due to divorce/death in family etc, you do NOT need to call customer service. They CAN do it in store. Again, any transaction that is not a sale hurts the employees sales number so they will tell you they cannot do it.
Beware that employees will add Spectrum voice to your account without you knowing, in order to get a sale. They will quote you the price including the phone and tell you you're getting a deal without telling you they signed you up for voice. (Home phone) Always check your bill for service that you didn't know you had, especially Spectrum voice.
In short, the employees are taught to basically scam customers. This is a terribly...
Read moreI read the reviews in the parking lot before I went in to return thier equipment. I thought, well just a few bad reviews, cant happen to everyone. Ill just say this review is for the store, not the company but maybe if they cared enough to see the same complaints over and over again maybe something will change. Im betting not. Anyway, I went into the store at 10 am to return a modem after I went to the other place that is still Spectrum but not a store. A fella there told me to bring it to the new place in the plaza ( which the guy at the store told me they are a different division so they dont know what they are talking about... ) I did that and waited for 45 minutes. They were busy, so I left. Now onto attempt 3. Guy with no name tag approaches and asks me if its an equipment return. I of course say yes. Hes says " Great, just bring it to any ups drop off" I replied, " No, im not running around for a fourth time to try to bring your equipment back" he then, get ready.... says " Well it says right here on the box that you just pack it up and drop it off at any ups drop off, or BRING IT TO THE STORE". I said thats why Im here because the label told me the instructions. Then comes the barrage of stupidity like I dont understand. But I read the reviews, and the box, the Spectrum website, the instructions in the box, the app and wherever else you can look, told him so. But everyone seems to think you can bring it to the store except him. Every excuse in the book. I then had enough and said " Here's what im gonna do, Im going to leave this box right here, take a picture of it for proof I did and after that I really dont care what happens to it." Miraculously they found my account and "open ticket" so I was "able" to return it. Nice try. Read the reviews, employees, you may learn people are on to...
Read moreHad spectrum since they took over time Warner. Price kept going higher and higher. I was told my bill would be 91.00 for just internet alone starting next month. So I called spectrum to see if there were any specials I could qualify for to get my bill lowered. Customer service on the phone told me I could go to the spectrum store in auburn and add a mobile phone, cheapest one in the store runs around 5 dollars and the mobile service would be free for a year. So my total bill with the special would be 55.00 . So off to the store I went. Saw Danny. Was told there was no deal like that for me. I'd have to pay 67.00 for internet and then pay for the phone 5.00 and the cell service. Which made the bill way up high. I said no forget it I'm trying to lower my bill not make it higher. Went home called Verizon got fast internet 49.99 a month target gift card. And my price of 49.99 is locked in for 5 years. No worries of a surprise increase like with spectrum. I got my fios installed and called to cancel spectrum, agent on the phone says why are you canceling? I told him the entire story of me calling and going to store. No deals to be had. Then he says I can give you the 49.99 a month deal! I said to late I already got Verizon installed. I don't know why the first person I spoke to didn't offer me a deal, just sent me to the store where they tried to make my bill even higher. Glad I'm done with spectrum. Customer service isn't the best and their prices just keep rising. He told me I could return my router and modem to the store. I go to the store to be told they can't take my equiptment because it's not in their system. I had to go to the ups store to return it. Seriously? Why tell me go to the store then the store tell me go to ups? Just horrible...
