Smitty's Coins and Currency East — Local services in City of Canandaigua

I've been collecting coins and silver for a little over a year now and Smittys is a great small coin shop that also sells, buys and trades magic the gathering and other cards.(I'm not too knowledgeable about these card games. I went to check out coins and Silver.) I felt very comfortable there with the helpful staff and the no pressure way they do business there. They have a large selection of junk / constitutional (90% and 40%) Silver coins, gold bullion coins, proof sets, collecting supplies and so much more. They also usually have some nice silver and gold bullion. The staff is the nicest I've found at a local coin shop so far. Easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about all things coin and game card related. Definitely NOT a high pressure sales place like I've been to before. My younger son recently developed an interest in coin/currency collecting. We have visited Smitty's many times in the last few months...most of the time just looking to see what's new/available - but we've made a few purchases as well. Matt has been very patient with my son... teaching him, answering questions, and treating him like he's valued as a customer. Matt also gave my daughter a starter pack of Magic cards (for free) - which satisfied her curiosity about the game.

Overall, just a great place to do business. Ignore any reviews indicating "scams"... it's just...

At first I walked in trading my silver eagles, and he bought them a dollar above spot. Also traded my 1819 Half Dollar which was in rough shape. I was going to take the money I got for them, and go, but the variety of coins this guy has is amazing. While browsing, he taught some young kids that came in with their Mom about coins. I came out with a bag of assorted wheat pennies, which had a lot of old dates and S mint marks, BU’s, with some Indian cents too! Also got two morgan silver dollars!...
