I had a nice table by the window--I suggested to my server that maybe I was too far from the kitchen, but she agreed that it is her favorite place to sit. I asked for coffee right away and looked over the menu, received plenty of coffee. Two ladies at a table nearby ordered and shortly after them I ordered. I ordered one of the versions of eggs Benedict--poached eggs on toast with pico de gallo, and spicy hollandaise. I had a two hour drive that morning to meet my boss in Geneva so I left an hour early to breakfast in Canandaigua--I like to have plenty of time to eat or I get anxious and don't enjoy my meal. They kept my coffee cup well provisioned. I waited patiently and noticed the ladies nearby finished breakfast and left. I assumed I would be served shortly but was getting anxious that I would need to stuff my face. I waited 13 more minutes and no breakfast so I left $4 for the overpriced coffee. I stopped at a convenience store and got buffalo Bleu cheese combos for breakfast and made my appointment just on time. Had a so so day--I routinely start the day with a good breakfast. On the bright side I realized I can get some Pico, make my own toast and eggs, and sprinkle a little lemon and hot sauce on top. I'll never go back to Gateway. I'm sure they just screwed up. But in the words of our second worst president ever, "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me--you can't get...
Read moreThe service and food were both rather disappointing. When we first walked in it was a little busy but still a fair number of open tables and staff walked by us several times without acknowledging our existence at all. Once we finally were sat, it became apparent that the lady who was hostess was also running drinks and clearing tables. Seemed like poor allocation of staff responsibilities for a Sunday brunch. Then we noticed that other groups of people coming through the rear entrance were also completely ignored while people coming through the front entrance much later than them were sat near immediately. The food itself seemed exciting on the menu, but when it arrived on the table it lacked flavor and was all around unexciting. Then you were pretty much ignored by waitstaff for the duration of the meal, as our coffee was not refilled once the whole time we were there. Good to know the lack of attention as you come in is consistent through the whole experience.
Response to owner: Thanks for responding. Just want to say it’s difficult to ask for refills of drinks when there’s no one to ask. I appreciate that things can fall through the cracks but that’s why reviews exist to allow customers to be honest about their experience. I hope that you can take this feedback in a constructive way to improve upon the service...
Read moreMet friends here (4 adults and 2 children total) while we were in town. Called ahead and got a reservation. Emma was fantastic BTW. Our table was almost ready, and another worker was trying to give our table away. Emma spoke up that we were next. 3 of us got cold brew, and they loved them. The server missed taking one of our orders, so he had to speak up. We got our food after others who sat down after us. We received 1 broken steak knife, and we had to ask for silverware. The only person who thought the food was good was me. The home fries and sausage links were good, the eggs were average, but the sausage gravy and toast were bad. The food was saugy, pancake burnt, and the strawberries sour. I paid, and she asked if I wanted a receipt. I said yes please, and she fast walked away without giving me one. My friends left a cash tip which wasn't good considering the experience. Another thing that seemed wrong was that they charge regular price for a kid's size drink but give you half the amount. The good: Emma was great, they accommodated all strawberries in a bowl instead of mixed fruit for my daughter (that she couldn't eat because they were too sour for even the adults,) the staff was very friendly, the cold brew was well priced for size and...
