My family and I were looking for a way to enjoy the beautiful weather with some outdoor dining and after a brief google search, I chose to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Josies Pizza Bar in Glen Cove last night and I am already itching to get back and try more of her incredible menu items!
At first, I thought there was no way a food truck could deliver a quality wood fired pizza, but I was repeatedly proven wrong, bite after delicious bite. We tried 3 different pies on the menu, āMarg-a-Ritaā for the kids (which they also offered in a special kids version that was a touch more basic for our picky eaters), āIsabellaā and āMeatball Problemsā. The pies are not a traditional size, rather a more personal sized pizza so we could sample the different varieties. They were all cooked to perfection. The crust was so flavorful and was the perfect vessel to house the fresh, high quality ingredients that lay atop the pie. I wish I had thought to take photos but I was too busy enjoying the meal. Not only was the food delicious to eat, it was beautifully presented. A fun fact about the Pizza Bar is that the menu items change up every two weeks so make sure you check out the current offerings on their social media pages.
Once our pies were piping hot and ready to go, we chose to eat our dinner at a picnic table right on the canal and across the way from a restaurant that was playing a fun mix of music on a summer-like Friday night in spring. The location is also beside a walking/biking path that we were able to enjoy after dinner. We stumbled upon a little beach and playground for the kids and they had a wonderful time.
Speaking of location, it is just lovely. Youāll find Josies at 1 Garvieās Point Road in Glen Cove. The truck is parked in a parking lot, but across the street there are some benches, little picnic tables and another short walking distance away are more benches and tables. Something to note for those of you with littles or elderly family members, there is a building with public restrooms very nearby, however it is closed until summer officially begins. There are additional bathrooms, but they are down by the beach and would be easier to access by car if you are not okay to walk.
I was also fortunate enough to run into Josieās mom and she proudly chatted with me about her family, their Sicilian and Calabrian roots and her pizza connoisseur daughter!
Josieās passion for pizza is a gift and a treat to those of us that get to experience it. If you are looking for an authentic, fresh, genuine Italian pizza experience as well as a relaxing, stress-free and fun meal, RUN and do not walk to Josies Pizza Bar! You will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am so thrilled that I found this fresh brick-oven pizza spot in the area!!! My son rates the pizza the BEST in the nation! He says:āMama, I would like to say it is the best in the world! Then there is Romaās pizzaš¤£š¤£š¤£. But seriously, the cheese texture and flavor is substantial! The crust is so crunchy! The dough is perfectly thin that holds all ingredients very well. I donāt usually like basil but Josieās gives a very subtle kick. I donāt mind it at all. The only thing I would say is less than perfect is the cheese distribution. I prefer the way that s done in Roma. Mama, I give it 5 out 5 definitely!ā as a very well-traveled boy, this means a lotš¤£š¤£š¤£
My son and I regularly have these mama-son food/eating dates. Today happens to be his 11.5 yrs old birthday. So I would like to get something he loves. Margarita pizza or St. Rocco or sashimi?
I searched on Yelp in the area and Josieās caught my eyes with all red shining stars. I texted Josie right way and she responded me in no time with honesty ( because the prices on Yelp menu is different from her other social media ones) and sincerity. Impressive! I know my guts feeling has never done me wrong.
Josie is extremely accommodating. She made a special arrangement for me to pickup at 3:45pm instead of waiting for 4pm since that is her opening hours. My son was SO surprised that his eyes tripled seeing me got into the car with a personal Margarita pizza in hand! That s priceless!
Josie told me that they would have chairs in the lot by the end of this month. Yes drinks, beers too. It would be a nice water front hangout spot for people. YES, we are so going there with friends and families!
We had a superb experience from placing the order to pickup with Josie...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place truly brightened my day on this rainy May 9. The lady who served me the most delicious pepperoni pizza I ever had was so kind. Even gave me some cannolis. I canāt wait to stop by on a sunny day and take advantage of their wonderful location by the water. I cannot emphasize enough, stopping by here today turned my awful morning into a succession of positivity. The pizza is beyond phenomenal. Havenāt had a fresher tasting pie anywhere else. The uniqueness of a pizza food truck is worthy of a visit in itself. Wish I had taken a picture of the beautiful pie; but after hitting Garvies Point Brewery, it was totally devoured. Best Iāve ever...
