The Beacon at Garvies Point — Local services in City of Glen Cove

I would have scored it 5 star. But, all the kitchen cabinets are white with similar colored backsplash. The rustic light colored, brown floor wood, is not my cup of tea. Since both the floor and kitchen cabinets cannot be change out by the company. You have to pay out of pocket to have it changed. Apparently, due to time constraints for building the units, there was no longer time to have owners select their color scheme for certain things. But, walls can be painted. The kitchen amenties are what you would expect within a luxury condo. But, their a few surprises thrown in that any great cook would appreciate. Like the stove, the huge island, the microwave. It's the little things that make us happy. The bathroom design and fixtures is a cross between a 5 star hotel suite and a decadent spa retreat. As soon as your eyes see it, your mind says, wow!! Any house guests you have over, will never leave. Condo units have balcony, none balcony, property entrance, patio, garden or, water view, the price reflects such. Being new to the community, I truly do love the city of Glen Cove, the people. Everyone seems to know each other. The town is very open and welcoming to strangers. Glen Cove has something special here, there's still an innocence about the community, about the city. A lot of that will change, how much I don't know. But, I believe The Beacon, is setting the tone for the future of this town. Home values within the community can only get better. Ferry access into the city, evening dinner cruises, organic markets, restaurants. The bar is being set high, The beacon has delivered, one building is almost sold out, less than 8 units remain. The other buildings will sell, the people are coming, even to invest. Will you get in on the buying frenzy. Something special is happening here. Cathleen Dodge did a wonderful job of answering my questions and concerns. I did my homework. But, so did she. Excellent realtor, engaging, proactive, informative, honest, if she doesn't know, she'll tell you and then go find the answer. One Star – Supposed to Be Luxury, Actually a Nightmare in Glen Cove

The Beacon markets itself as a luxury apartment building in Glen Cove, but the reality is a total nightmare. You're not allowed to leave your shoes in the hallway for even a second, and putting up decorations on your door is strictly forbidden. It feels more like a strict boarding school than a home.

The staff is obnoxious, lazy, and constantly has an attitude. If you don’t tip them when your food is delivered, they’ll let it sit and get cold before finally bringing it up. The manager is especially rude and unprofessional.

This place is absolutely not child-friendly. Pets must be in crates or leashed at all times—even inside. There's a disgusting smoke stench that seeps through the vents, and worse, you can hear loud sex noises from older neighbors at night.

The residents act entitled, gossip behind your back, and some are even aggressive and verbally abusive. It’s toxic, uncomfortable, and far from the “luxury living” experience they promise.

Do yourself a favor—avoid The Beacon at all costs. There is nothing luxury about this place except...
