It was unfortunate that my Japan trip was cancelled this past weekend so I decided to try to do a makeup session with a picnic with Japanese eats at home. S.O. and I went to Nijiya to buy our picnic goods that included: Kalgi Beef Bento Box: this one was surprisingly delicious, the meat was very tasty and the marinated sauce used was delicious. The meat was also very tender for something was in the cold section after we reheated it. Definitely recommend it! California Rolls Wakame Salad Spicy Tuna Onigiri: S.O. didn't quite like the hot sauce used for the tuna.

We also grabbed some snacks that I saw for way cheaper like Pretz stick box (of 10 pouches) was only $1.60 something here when it's usually $4.00 a box at other grocery stores.

Definitely will come back for Japanese snacks...

It's like a tinier version of Tokyo Central... kinda small and cramped inside. Also, I couldn't have spent more than 20 minutes inside the store, because for a winter night, it was FREEZING in there. I'm glad I was wearing a jacket, but even then, I was shivering and my fingers were actually numb by the time I left. Those things aside, the prices seem okay, and the store doesn't have a super large selection of items, but it's not bad. I mainly went to check out the snacks, and they had my absolute favorites for lower prices and in bigger quantities than Daiso. I'd come back to restock on snacks and see what else they have to offer. But maybe not on a winter night because it's...

Be careful with your receipt; you may have been charged extra for bags you didn't want, and it seems like they're just ignoring it.

The female cashier asked me if I wanted a bag, and I told her I didn't. She might not have heard me or accidentally place my items in a bag. I told her again that I didn't want a bag. She glanced at the computer, and I believe she knew she had already charged me for the bag, but she didn't show any intention of refunding me or voiding the transaction. Whether it was intentional or careless, the service was unacceptable. When I went back to inquire, the female cashier had already...

This Japanese supermarket, with medium area, features Japanese drinks + alcoholic drinks, Japanese fast food box lunch sushi sashimi section, Japanese soy sauce sauce, Japanese cosmetics, the price is quite expensive, a pound of garlic is 9.9 DOLLARS, it is really unacceptable. Japanese take away lunches are reasonably priced, starting at more than $3 for fried ones and $17.99 for sashimi ones. The people who work here and make money should be very receptive. I see a lot of Chinese shopping here too, not just Japanese, it was Friday morning and the traffic was moderate.

Unlike other Nijiya branches I’ve been to. Lady making free samples refused to offer me anything, but gave it to some other woman and pretended I was not there. Why so selective with the samples? Is she planning to take the samples home for dinner? At the checkout, the cashier did not bag any of my pre-made foods. I was surprised considering I bought food that could leak. So lazy. All Nijiya stores bag/wrap the food it because it’s a Nijiya standard What kind of Japanese grocery is this? Absolutely atrocious service. I spent $170 on this visit
