The Jewelbox damaged a family heirloom--an antique amber ring from my grandmother--after tightening the prongs. The surface of the ring had lost its luster and had a gritty texture to it. When I pointed this out, they agreed to take the ring back, suspecting epoxy had been applied to and that it had to be cleaned. An associate called to say they had applied mineral oil to give it shine, but that the ring was made of "plastic" (it is not) so there was nothing to be done. When I returned, the associate said it was definitely not amber and that they should have never taken it. I explained that the ring was in a condition that was different than I had left it, and it was they responsibility to repair it.
At that point, they called the goldsmith to come to the store. In the few minutes interim, the store associate dropped my ring on the counter and cracked it. She said it was just a "surface crack" that could be polished out. It was clear that the crack was deep. The goldsmith arrived. She apologized profusely and said the ring was damaged in a preparatory stage. She said the associated should have been more careful with my ring, that even hard stones could be damaged when dropped. She confirmed it was indeed amber and said they would have a stone cutter either attempt to repair it or cut a new stone.
Several days later, I got a call saying the ring was ready and that I would be very happy with the results. The associate apologized. The ring was successfully polished, but the crack they induced was still there. I was told that they could cut a new stone, but because it was my grandmothers, I should just keep it as is, but not wear it too often.
I left with a cracked ring. And it rattles when you shake it, which means the prongs are still loose. I asked to be refunded to the $25 they charged to fix the prongs. I am awaiting the check. But I have not in anyway been compensated for the damaged ring. The whole process reflected a lack of professionalism and expertise. I wish I had never brought it there, and I would not recommend taking anything there of monetary or...
Read moreWe've finally found time to write a review for the wonderful experience we had with The Jewel Box. There are so many positives, that we wanted to wait until we had enough time to write them all out for you, prospective client.
Walking into The Jewel Box feels like walking into a sparkling showroom of jewelry, but instead of your typical steely-eyed, aloof salespersons, you find people that feel like friends. The best kind of friends too, that would tell you if you had something in your teeth or bring you ice cream after a breakup. This set the tone for our entire experience.
When we had questions about a ring we both liked in the showroom, they were able to pass our questions along to Mickey, the designer, who came to meet with us in person! Enamored with the band of one of the rings we tried on, my partner and I (both she/her) decided to get the same band, with a different stone/setting for each of us, to display our individuality perfectly. Mickey wasted no time, showing us types of stones, settings, and the way each might look with our chosen style of band. After a few tries with my stone (Alexandrite) and hers (Aquamarine) our engagement rings were all set. We did not have a timeline, but even with several other orders in line prior to ours, the wait time was exceptionally reasonable.
We've each only seen the ring we'll be proposing with, so our respective engagement rings will be a lovely surprise, thanks to the Jewel Box. We're so happy with our experience from start to finish, and can't wait to wear them ♡
Thank you so much to Mickey and each of the people who helped us, and made us feel so welcome. They even sent us a bouquet of flowers on Valentine's Day, which is the sweetest thing ever! Please do yourself a favor and stop by The Jewel Box for yourself, or for that someone special. We're so...
Read moreMy partner and I had a wonderful experience getting our engagement rings made by Micky and her team. We brought a pair of wildly different stones to be set into each of our rings, and then sat down with Micky to discuss options. My partner is in a related industry, being a metalsmith, so while I was a little out of my depth during the nitty-gritty parts of their conversation—if you’re reading this, let me impress on you how KNOWLEDGEABLE and PASSIONATE Micky and her team at the Jewelbox are. I was left wondering, shocked, how may people can look at an objectively-weird-colored stone and say “Wow, this is an untreated zoisite!” Astounding. Her love for her work really shone through that first time we spoke, and we left the shop knowing we were in the right hands. That meeting was several months ago, and we just picked up our rings yesterday (be patient with custom jewelry, it’s an art). The rings are BEAUTIFUL—treasures we will have the greatest fun wearing for many years. After our experience, we will absolutely have our wedding bands done here, as well. (And, after wandering around the store several times, we will absolutely also be buying more special treasures here in the future.) We couldn’t have had a better experience. Not just Micky, but the entire staff is knowledgeable and so, so excited to talk jewelry—it’s infectious. Thank you!...
