Yxi’s Arepas & Gordito — Restaurant in City of Ithaca

Wow... like wow!

I'm usually a little hesitant to try a new style food (this is Venezuelan) but other peoples plates looked great and the overall smell wafting around talked me into it - I'm so glad I did! Food truck style in the back of The Westy, but they also have an app and you can order online with that or their website.

First order was "El Plate" - it's 3 Fried arepas, "Grandma’s black beans", fried Sweet Plantains an Avocado Salad and still your choice of a meat (I did the carnitas). Although I really didn't know exactly what I ordered - I loved every bite. Went back two days later and got the Papas Monterrey (Large French fries topped with shredded carnitas, queso fresco & salsas.) - amazing once again. Can't wait to go back and try something else new.

Owner (Yxi) was also super friendly and helpful. She even stopped by our table to make sure we were happy. We have been very happy and very full with every pick and give them 10 out of 5 stars.

We found Yxi's truck by happenstance and when I saw my country's flag I was howling and screaming for my boyfriend to park and let us go there. When we arrived we found her and I was finally able to not only get a taste from my home country which is so needed sometimes, but to find an amazing person that serves people with such a passion. The food is amazing, the people that work so hard to deliver little mom hugs (because that is what arepas are) are amazing, the ambiance is great (eating with that river beside you is outright magical)... I have not moved there yet, but once I do I will be at Yxi's truck every week! I definitely recommend it!! (no more pictures because we actually devoured our food. We ate Reyna Pepiada arepa and...

I’m really happy to have more variety of restaurants in Ithaca! My husband and I moved here from Philly, which has an amazing food scene. Ithaca is disappointing to say the least. But this food brings Ithaca up a notch! I also have celiac disease, and this place is 100% gluten free. The food is amazing, superb, delicious. I had a plate with chicken and vegetarian beans. The salsas, the avocado, and the arepas all yummy! But what really got me excited was the plantains! Omg! The best thing on the plate. We will be recommending. The owners are super friendly and asked if we had any other allergies or food preferences, which is amazing that they are looking out for their customers. I will be back and will recommend to...
