I've been going to this sale since 1992 and intend to continue! This time I went Sunday May 21st and came away with 3 bags of books and a few DVDs for $8.10. Then I went again the last day, May 23rd; dollar a bag day. Due to unfortunate circumstances I got there about 1/2 an hour before they closed so I had only enough time to fill 2 bags at the cost of $2.16. Going to this sale every spring and fall really makes me happy! This time I came away with less than usual because of not having the time to be there long enough, however it's just as well since I already have SO many books that I honestly don't know where to put the latest ones! I have books on shelves, in piles here and there, in boxes, on the shelf under the coffee table, stacked on a dresser, and I'm sure there's other places!! I'm sure a few will be weeded out due to having dublicates, which I will then donate back for the fall sale or as I sometimes do, I'll donate to the Jacksonville Methodist Church thrift shop or the Ovid laundromat where last year I found that they have a take and/or donate area for books and such! SO... anyone that loves to read, watch movies or TV shows, listen to music, has hobbies or even just likes to collect books should make sure to get to the next Friends of the Library book sale! Believe me, there's something for EVERYONE! My son used to complain about the amount of books I had, now I think he has more than I do! He also hasn't missed the sale since he started going 10 or more years ago! It's definitely something we look forward to every year!

Read moreIf you're a reader, whether a casual one or a die-hard ink-drinker, this is the place to get your books. Too bad it's only twice a year. On the other hand, finding good books is a bit like gambling. On the first days of the sale, the books are overpriced (they justify this by complaining how book dealers buy all the good books and resell at even higher prices, and happily point out that the high prices don't stop people from buying). Toward the end of the sale, when books are cheap, the good stuff is gone, gone, gone. Pricing aside, this organization and its twice-a-year events are a...
Read moreDANGER! You're going to need to get more bookshelves at home. If you go on the first days (best selection available) You'll spend time in line waiting for others to leave so that more can be let in. I waited 40 minutes on day 1, but it's a pleasant place to stand all things considered. Huge selection, many gems, great prices (especially near the end of the run). I think day 1 books range roughly $3-5. Something I look forward to every year. Happy to have all Tom Robbin's books back after gifting most of my collection to friends...
