This is the #1 place to go for retro video gaming in the Capital Region! Don't waste your time going to other places. Come here and you'll be 12 years old agin. The organization, knowledge, and nostalgia are amazing.
My son and I were eating lunch and decided to swing in here as it got some extremely good reviews. My son was looking for The Lion King for the Super Nintendo. I thought it was going to be like finding a needle in a haystack. We got to FF and were immediately greeted by two gentlemen. One of them was the owner. He asked what were looking for and my son told him. He went over to a case and pulled out not only one copy but two copies of the Lion King still in the original box. Amazing! If that wasn't enough, the whole store is organized by console and in alphabetical order, making it easy to find any game you are looking for. It's extremely clean placed also. There selection was incredible. Almost every game I was looking for they had. I ended up purchasing NBA Jam for Super Nes for $10, and Madden 95 for Super Nes for $1. Yes $1. My son got the Lion King for $30 since it was in the box. The owner informed us that if we decide to exchange the game that the box has an added value and gave us an exact price so we know how much of a store credit we would get.
At checkout the owner informed be the have a rewards program which is good for store credits. I've never seen this done at a used video game store. It was pretty awesome. The owner was very knowledgable about all the games and consoles. He informed me that he has a video game cleaning service to clean old games so they don't rust and destroy not only the game but the system. He also explained that all the games he sells are taken a part and cleaned (we instantly noticed this when we put the Lion King in and it started right up).
Overall, this was THE BEST video game store I've ever been to, and I plan on going back many many times. Not only did my son leave happy...
Read moreI had recieved a Super Nintendo console and Super Mario All Stars game from my boyfriend for Christmas. The game would randomly shut off because it was highly sensitive to even the absolute slightest movement. My boyfriend got it at a shop that i respectfully wont name, but he also overpaid for it but he didnt care because he just wants to make sure he got this for me. He was very upset that my gift wasnt working. He didnt know about Frank at Forgotten Freshness beforehand so I had him take me there with the system. Frank and another gentleman stayed open late in order for me to get there, he cleaned the system (which was disgustingly dirty) and he opened up the game(which was even more filthy), cleaned it and tested it all out. Everything now worked like new and he was even drumming on the system while it was on and it didn't glitch once. When he shut it off and restarted it though the test game he was just in hadn't saved which meant the battery in the cartridge was dead. He swapped the insides of my game with one of his own in the shop so that way I still had the cover of the game my boyfriend got but now had a working battery so that it would save our progress. Frank and his employee went above and beyond to make sure we were leaving there happy and all of these services he only charged us about $20 or so if I remember correctly. They are a great store with a large variety of product, amazing people who have extensive knowledge of everything they sell, and the most pleasant customer service etiquette I have experienced anywhere. Thank you so much for being our Go-To store for anything and everything...
Read moreI recently sold my game collection to Forgotten Freshness and had a thoroughly positive experience. The store is well-kept and has an incredible inventory of retro games, consoles, and gaming-adjacent items (fantastic amiibo collection!) - it was hard not to immediately turn the sold collection into a new set of retro games!
Before selling my older games and consoles to Forgotten Freshness, I visited a couple of local stores and shopped around online. At the other local stores, the reactions ranged from indifference to outright hostility. The online interactions were positive, but having to ship the games across the country introduced a ton of extra risk and expense.
Forgotten Freshness made me a fair offer that was comparable to the best offers I received online, while also doing business in an open, honest, and friendly way. Their team was clearly familiar with most of the games in my collection, gave me a fair assessment of the condition of the items, and were open and clear about how they priced their offer.
If I were in the market for retro games (or even more recent consoles - they have an exceptional Switch collection!), this is where I would start shopping, and the same goes for trying to get a fair value for a collection. While I was at the store, I heard the owner field multiple calls/emails from users looking for rare titles, and he clearly knows his business and does what he can to keep his customer base happy. Great store and transaction all the way around. ...
