I was looking forward to this day for two weeks. I lost an old dear friend a few weeks ago. She battled cancer for years. She was a best friend years ago but circumstances beyond our control kept us apart. We use to go antiquing all the time together. When I saw she ālovedā Tattered Tulip, I felt I needed to go there. I was truly hoping to walk around quietly and think about all our times we spent in places like that. I wanted to buy something that would remind me of our times.
I did not have a problem buying something, they have cute merchandise. However, the three ladies behind the counter were extremely rude. They were opening boxes and taking them into the back. I obviously was in their way when I was browsing through the store. The one women had boxes in her hand and I said āI am sorry let me move over for youā she just looked at me and plowed through. When I went up to the check out, I stood there for a few minutes (which felt like 10 minute) until the women cashing out picked up her head from writing on inventory sheets and looked at me and said āis that all you are getting?ā
Honestly, I would have normally walked out when I got shoved out of the way with the boxes or when my $30 purchase didnāt seem good enough to the cashier; however, it was not about me that day. I wanted to bring something home that will remind me of my time with my old dear friend.
I was hoping to awake a memory we once shared. Instead, it was a horrible experience. I am not an emotional person, yet I had to do all I can to fight back the tears when I was cashing out. Once I got in the car it was bitter sweet because I cried and laughed. I cried because I missed my friend but I laughed because if she was here we would have been talking about how rude those three women were who worked at the Tattered Tulip.
I will not go back there. Piece of advice.... everyone can afford a smile. The world would be better place if everyone can give one each day! RIP Carol, you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI cannot explain how important this store is to me and I know this is going to sound silly. I have severe PTSD and I come to this store on especially bad days. For some reason the ambiance really helps me. Itās like no other store Iāve ever been in. Once you enter itās like youāve been transported in to another world. You are surrounded by creativity and calmness. I have no idea who the owner/s is/are but I can tell you they put a lot of time into making the space special.
This is my favorite place to do my grounding techniques. 5 things that you can see: Flowers, paintings, vases, animal decor, kitchenware. 4 things you can touch: pillows, blankets, baskets, fluffy animals. 3 things you can hear: cool 70s music (the lady behind the register told me today), water fountains, the sound of your shoes on the vintage hard wood floors. 2 things you can smell: the candles and the scent sachets that I pick up for my bathroom and closet. 1 thing you can taste: I always get candy on the way outš
I can tell you that when I leave I feel 100% better than when I walked inā¦unless I spent too much LOL. Thereās just too much to take in. I come about every two weeks and there are always new items. Iām trying to make my home a place where I can truly relax and The Tattered Tulip is simply like no other. The big box stores like Home Goods are a complete joke compared to this place and honestly I donāt even go there anymore.
If the owner is reading this..:from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here for my bad days. I hope it helps someone else the way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to love these stores. I shopped at multiple locations frquently. My husband was stationed in Arkansas for the military and about a year ago I ordered $120 worth of Fall/Halloween decor. The order never came. I opened a claim with UPS and they said that Tattered Tulip needed to update information on their end in order for me to be reimbursed. I have over 15 emails and messages going back and forth with Tattered Tulip where someone tells me "We'll get back to you" and no one ever does. I have also talked to the owner who was very lackadaisical while eating during the conversation acting like she was going to take care of it finally, she said she would get back to me and have it straightened out and never did. My mom went in several times to also talk to someone on my behalf and was told that they would take care of it. Until, the last time they told her that there was nothing they would do. Don't ever order from them online. If they aren't prepared to help people who dont get their orders they shouldn't try to sell things online, period. And their customer service is horrendous. And FYI East Aurora also has stores that carry many of the same products and lines in case you're looking for...
