Some guy pretending to be a guard with NO ID card asked me for an actual ticket. I haven't used a ticket in many trips and I am a member. They don't even ask for tickets ON THE TRAIN. He has an Allied Universal shirt on but no ID card and no evidence that he even works at the train station. Please feel free to look up my member number. I think Amtrak needs to move toward the online revolution not toward showing tickets. If you pay a guard, PLEASE, ensure they have ID. And, please, tell them not to ask for tickets. I have a QR code that gets scanned on the train. I LOVE the train but don't like to get harassed at the door. I prefer to see ID from the guy asking me for ID. Read moreI used Amtrak for a trip upstate this weekend. The train was very clean and the seats were very comfortable. Plenty of foot space too! Sit on the left side of the train for the best views.They have a cafe with a variety of foods and snacks, prices were reasonable. The cafe woman was very pleasant. Overall my experience was good.
