This review is specifically for Nani's Kitchen: I just had an amazing takeout meal that left me full and happy! Highly, highly recommend eating everything with chutney... both the cilantro/mint and tamarind/date chutneys were fantastic and full of flavor without overpowering any of the foods I had. The puchka were lovely little starters, crispy and light and very tasty (10/10 with the chutneys!). I had the chickpea tacos on grilled roti - everything was fresh, bright, and went together beautifully. I'm looking forward to trying them with the bhatura another time! I also recommend upgrading your side to the samosa chat, which gives you a delicious puff of tumeric potato/pea goodness topped with stewed chickpeas and some fresh onions and herbs for a little kick! My food was ready on time, and it was packaged in a way that maintained the desired textures of each dish. And the Nani's team was delightfully upbeat and friendly. Definitely a 5-star-worthy experience!...
Read moreThis place is still too new to give a hearty review to but I see great promise in it. The atmosphere and aesthetic is nice (though I wish they had redone the floors). I have only been here once so far and ate at Nani’s. My first ordering experience wasn’t great as they forgot about me and I waited 25 minutes before finding out I was forgotten about, though they showed good customer relations by making up for it with a free dessert and drink. The food was very good regardless so I won’t fault anyone yet because they are all still getting their bearings and figuring out how to run themselves especially during a pandemic. I look forward to trying the other places and seeing what other venues move into the mall-like setup. Rochester desperately needed something like this downtown. It’s truly helping change the landscape and make Rochester a place worth talking...
Read moreMyself and a friend were looking for a place to eat. Before going in, a nearby employee asked how he could help us. I said we were looking for someplace to sit and eat. I could barely hear what he was saying in the exchange because of traffic but he told us something along the lines of it being for paying customers only, which I thought was clear when we said we were looking for someplace to eat. We were told we couldn't go in unless we were paying, to which my friend said yes, of course. Ultimately we were advised to go elsewhere.
I'm not sure why that is but it felt discriminatory. (Both my friend and I had luggage because of just having gotten off a Greyhound bus, and both of us had mobility aids, me with a walker and friend...
