Electric City Comics — Local services in City of Schenectady

This is no frills type of comic book store. If you’re looking for a place that is more boutique-y, then this may not be the right spot for you (which is OK btw). I have been coming to this shop for over 3 years and the main reason I always come back is because the shop will do everything within their power to get what you need if you’re looking for something specific. I’ve been to a few shops around the Capital region and this is the only one I will consistently choose to support because of the experience and the staff there is very attentive to what I like. If you’re about the hole in the wall type of place where you can spend hours flipping through boxes for undiscovered trades, this is the place for you. But if you’re looking for a place that will have multiple variant covers, bunch of hardcovers, and/or an overabundance of books, you might be better off checking other shops. The store is so cramped and tiny. There is no variants no cgc graded books at all. When I asked why the man behind the counter he said because it cost $30 to get the books graded.I replied by saying if you sell the book for $75 doesn't it make it worth the $30 to get it graded and if customers are asking for it why not. Then I asked for a few Doctor Doom books the man said they are in storage in the back and would not get them unless I knew what issues. I was like just get the Doom books and let me look I got cash. Such a great little comic shop! They have tons of back issues, which is perfect if you’re looking to fill gaps in your collection or pick up some classics.
