I would give 5 stars for the chocolate. But, for the comfort of the customer, I give a zero! Sure, the women behind the counter are nice enough, but they can't handle anything for a customer other than answering chocolate questions, putting chocolate in a box per the costumer's select Ion and checking them out at the register. I was recently picking up the usual chocolate for family to give on Easter. I was taking my time as I browsed the many selections, as most people do. Spending more time than I had planned, there came the need to go number "1". I asked one employee if I could use their private bathroom, since there is none in the store. The employee became confused and didn't know how to answer. I explained I have M.S. and an urgency to "go" when it's time to go. I also explained that it took a lot to walk from the parking lot into the store using a cane. I told her if I couldn't use the bathroom, I'd have to walk back to my car and drive to find a public bathroom. Apparently, she, for some reason, was unable to make a decision. She then disappeared in the back room, I assumed, to try to find someone with the authority to let me use their restroom.
After five minutes, I saw that it was going to take an act of Congress for me to pee at the business where I was about to spend a lot of money on albeit great, very expensive chocolate. I had no choice but to walk back to my car, a little weaker by now, and begin a search for a restroom with less strict oversight. There began my quest.
I tried to think of close locations where I might be able to relieve myself before it was too late altogether. I thought of Home Depot and Cumberland Farms, but I considered parking and the ease to get to their bathroom. I didn't want to drive all the way to Stewart's on the corner of State St. & Corlaer Ave...but I ended up doing just that.
After doing what I had to do, I drove back to Uncle Sam's and made my way inside once again. No one said a word about my request to use the restroom and neither did I. They were not accommodating in the least. Yet, I completed my Easter candy selections and checked out. Paying my bill of $60. The choice is the best but customer service is the worst.

Read moreMy husband and I stopped in tonight after calling to be sure of closing time we arrived more than a half hour before closing (725 pm) and were greeted by an older woman employee I believe named Diane, by saying "god dont they know we close in a half hour" to another employee very loudly directed at us. I wanted to leave immediately and give my business elsewhere but my husband was really looking forward to buying some chocolates here since he hadnt been since he was a kid and had great memories of the place. I witnessed this woman say the exact same thing several times each time someone came in the door and twice when someone came to the counter to checkout this Diane said "you do realize we close in a half hour?" She was making everyone very uncomfortable, very off putting should not be working in customers service I will not be back. I was planning on buying several choc covered strawberries I try to give my business to local shops but in this case I took my business to price chopper and got my choc covered...

I call in the order and every year when I am supposed to pick it up,.I have to jump through loops. And wait. I called my order in 2 weeks ago. To have ready today 2/10. I was told to call toale sure they were ready. Upon doing so I got told I had no order there, then asked who I spoke to for the order. I was charged for a large box and got medium sized box. They're really cutting back on what you get for the price you pay and the hoops I have to jump through every single year is annoying. It's become expected at this point. I unfortunately will not do business here anymore. Poor presentation, small amount of strawberries for what I paid,.and just sloppy work I'm the time I had to wait for them to complete my order that I again place January 30th by phone.
