Not perfect but a decent option for local produce during the winter months. Personally I tried to choose ONLY produce labeled local (most of the time but not always). Doing that during the winter greatly reduced my options and my family and I ended up eating a lot of cabbage, carrots, apples, and greens grown in local greenhouses. As well as some winter squashes. We also loved having the locally made tofu too!
Pros: There are local options to choose from. Likely more during summer months but I won’t use this service then as we get a local farm share instead. It’s convenient to have it delivered. I’m happy with the prices. Local food received is tasty and comes minimally packaged.
Cons: It seems odd that there are a LOT of non local options as well as many processed items too, like gum or Altoids? I was under the impression when I signed up that this company focused on healthy nutrient rich veggies and fruits, so why the plethora of random processed items? In my opinion, as it appears to me, this company has gotten too large and fell victim to the demand and therefore, compromised their original business model for the sake of money and/or more customers. I have contacted the company and asked them why they seem to have changed the original business model but the responses I’ve received have been vague and robot like. Except for the one time I asked to cancel an upcoming order apparently too late and was scolded for it. I was told “in the future, please cancel it a week ahead of time.” Not a huge deal but there was nothing that I saw that clearly stated “if you need to cancel an order please do so a week in advance” and I was not informed of that policy when first signing up, which also could have been very helpful information.
All that aside, I have been thankful to receive the local produce I HAVE been able to get. (Trusting that the items labeled local truly ARE local).
Over all I’m hoping to not have to use this service in the future but for now it’s ok. Support your local...
Read moreI've been using Off The Muck Market for years, began in the midst of the lockdown. Their produce is FANTASTIC! Occasionally, of course, there's whoopsies. Not so great produce that accidentally make it in the box, it doesn't happen often, but when it does their customer service is QUICK to make it right. I intend to use them for years to come, at least when I don't have the ability to grow my own produce. I love that they're a local (central New York) business and that they purchase as much produce as possible from local farms. They're a great company with fabulous food! I haven't purchased much of their other grocery items, but they're likely just as great as the produce! If you want delicious FRESH, lasting produce delivered to your door, Off The Muck is...
Read moreTried them years ago when they first came out and had nothing but issues. Thought I’d give them a try again and the first week was fine. Then got rotten milk one week, by almost two weeks out of date. Next an item was out stock, then was given pork sausage with barely a n apology. That is not it really acceptable since many people don’t eat pork for religious reasons.
I like the access to pastabilities bread but other than that it gets old shipping for stuff for so much to be sold out and no way to be notified that they are back in stock. The shopping software isn’t very good and no wish it had ways to add to a...
