As a long time customer and former employee, the last thing I expected was rudeness from my server. I had asked for 2 coffees & two waters & she returned with one coffee, so I had asked again & then a third time, once she was already bringing drinks to a newer table. Seemed like she forgot. 5 minutes later my father was back from speaking with his friends & asked for a coffee and water & she came back with just coffee & I had yet to get my water. Not a huge deal, even though they were slow. So, now I ask for the 5th time for the waters & the response was rude, saying "God can you give me a minute" then she proceeded to say "water water water" to a co worker, letting us hear her. Firstly, we're now uncomfortable in an environment we frequent, secondly, she had much more than a minute & 4 reminders as well. It's one thing to be doing other things and eventually get to us, but it's another to come to the table 4 times without the drinks wed asked for. Even one drink per trip would have done it. That being said, it's reasonable to think she may not have heard our request, hence the second, third & fourth request. Furthermore more, had there been any acknowledgments of the request, at least we would have known they were coming. After 4 requests with no response or fulfillment of the requests, acting as if we're being pushy and expressing that to us and other employees, is extremely unprofessional, uncalled for and plain rude. It was poor service & we were not impolite about it. Don't act like customers are an issue, when it was you being scatter brained..typically when you hear someone's request, especially more than once, an acknowledgment is certainly proper, especially considering your job is food service. We've been going there for decades & have never been talked to like that or made to feel were bothering our server. It's unacceptable, & that why we left. She's was out of line and had zero merrit, when it was poor service that caused her frustration, not us repeatedly asking for what we came there for, & not getting a response & her making 3 trips to our table without what we'd asked for. In this scenario we're either unheard or we're ignored, so of course were going to ask again. Terrible attitude, but we still love...
Read more3/4/23 My family and I decided to go to Market Diner the first time this morning. We looked up the menu and prices prior, and had the plan to go to the farmers market next door after. It’s a cute, charming place. The mural on the back was pretty. Really wish I could say the same for the service. We were told to sit anywhere, chose a booth by a window that had a draft but not enough to want to leave. We waited about 5-6 mins before our waitress came over. I wasn’t sure if it was just her attitude or the whole vibe but me and my boyfriend immediately got the sense that she was just not friendly and had a terrible attitude. I think her name was Tara? Tanya? I don’t know. It seemed like anything we asked or how we ordered our breakfast was a problem. The wait for our food after ordering was TERRIBLE. Easily 20 mins if not more. Not once did our waitress come check in with us to let us know what was going on. Right before we got up to leave because the wait was too long she finally came with our food. Mind you, we were not the only table this was happening to. The food itself was okay at best. My son ordered a breakfast sandwich, the sausage looked grey, he couldn’t finish it. My boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict which was the only shining star of our whole experience. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet which tasted like it was cooked in oil, nasty. Again, no check in to see how we were doing during the meal and then when it came time to be done we had to ask another waitress for our check which took another 10 mins to arrive. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR CHECK because what was supposed to only be about 40$ cost about 62$. Trying to get this fixed at the register was another disaster. There is a debit card up charge which isn’t posted anywhere. Overall, completely negative experience. You would get better service at...
Read moreFirst off, I want to state that I had a large party (9) and I know that is difficult. I also acknowledge that we went at a very busy time. However, I feel the service was still unacceptable. We waited over an hour because we were aware we had a large party and that was fine. However, after we were seated and ordered, we watched 3 separate tables come in, be seated, order, eat and leave before we even got our food. When we asked the waitress about it she seemed in too much of a rush to care. She did get a little better herself throughout the experience when she realized how poorly it was going, but not much. When we finally got our food (over an hour after ordering, and I timed it because when we asked the waitress about it the first time she showed me to the minute she put the order in) 7 out of 9 of the orders were wrong in some way. Two had ordered steak and eggs, and their steaks were literally cold. Not room temperature, cold. My friend received the entirely wrong sandwich, to which the waitress told him "it's going to take too long to make you another one, you might as well eat that". They did a poor job on drink refills, and just seemed not to care. They gave us $20 off for the inconvenience (3 people thought their food was so bad they literally didn't eat more than maybe 10% of it) and a free order of fries. I appreciate the attempt at making it right, but, it was far from close enough. Also, nowhere near saying I should have received the meal for free, but $20 just seemed the bare minimum for that large a party. I had brought friends from out of town that were staying with me and was absolutely embarrassed by the food and customer service. I will not be repeating that...
