The cuteness of this store will not distract from the rude treatment I received from these employees. The item I purchased was an antique inspiration board with purposeful wear along the frame however there were large chips on the sides and the top of the board. Upon bringing this up to the cashier at checkout she rolled her eyes and brought the store manager around. He proceeded to give me even more attitude as I explained my predicament and pointed out that the paint of the frame was also beginning to crack. He made me feel horribly as he didnāt say a word, pointed at the crack that to him didnāt seem worth his time and brought it off to the side where he visibly voiced his frustration to the cashier. He gave two dollars off which I suppose is better than full price yet the manner in which I was treated made me wish I didnāt enter the store at all. As the cashier was finishing up the transaction and was bagging my item she said āJUST SO YOU KNOW itās supposed to look like thatā in the rudest most know it all tone. I normally donāt bother employees who are just trying to do their jobs with my problems but I truly did feel this was worth attention. The manager on duty refused to give me a refund on the spot, saying she had to check with a different manager and promised to call me back. Guess what? No call back. I eventually had to reach out myself, only to get the same frustrating runaround from a team that clearly had no idea what was going on. I wasted my time and energy on what should have been a straightforward process.
The lack of organization and accountability was beyond frustrating. Itās shocking how little care or attention goes into tracking their own merchandise, especially items that customers have already paid for! Iāll never purchase from Homesense again. I was waiting in line to checkout and 4 of the employees at the register were having a pow-wow and photo shoot while there were customers waiting to checkout! I'm upset that I didn't take a photo as evidence. I was in such shock by the unprofessionalism that I didn't think to take a photo and I just put the items down I was going to purchase and walked out the store as other potential customers did the same.
