For years I have driven past this diner but never tried it. Yesterday my daughter wanted pancakes, it was raining so much and since we were going to Barnes and Noble and since I hate IHOP, I figured let's try this out, and I can't express enough how much I regret it!
I'm not sure if they were short staffed, which will explain the amount of waiting we dealt with. I'm a professional chef, I've been in the restaurant business my entire life, so I'm fully aware of the delays due to short staff, that I can understand!
With that said, what I will never understand or be understanding to is horrible food, physical contamination (Hair) and lack of effort when it comes to food!
My daughter ordered pancakes, I ordered three scrambled eggs and home fries, and we both had orange juice. The minute that I tasted the home fries I was immediately shocked with how horrible they were, they had zero flavor, no onions, no peppers, they were just boiled and then fried on the griddle and nothing more. The eggs were beyond tasteless, my daughter is a vegetarian and her pancakes tasted like bacon, which means they griddled the pancakes on the same side they cook their meat!
But the worst part is, I found a hair on my home fries, I didn't say anything because I didn't want to freak out my daughter and for a second I started questioning myself if it was my hair or not! Until my daughter found hair on her pancake, if it wasn't for the fact that she likes to add butter to each pancake, she would have never found it, the pancakes came in a stack of three, and the hair was on the second pancake!
There was nothing good about this experience, even the orange juice which my guess is it was minute maid from a juice machine was very thick!
Horrible experience, and I will never return back to this diner! Beyond...
Read moreBe prepared to select from probably the largest food menu you've ever seen. I've always wondered how diners can have so many dish options and do them all well. Some of us ordered breakfast items while others ordered lunch. The food was good, not knock your socks off, but good. Service was really friendly and nice. The reason for the four stars is that we ordered a carrot cake to go, and when we got home to eat it the cake part was extremely dry and didn't taste good at all. We called the restaurant to let them know the cake they served us was probably old, and that they may not want to serve it to anyone else. The manager offered for us to have a new slice of any cake we'd like the next time we came in. We came back a few days later because we were in the area and were provided with a replacement piece of carrot cake from a brand new, unsliced cake. The man behind the counter was surprised that anyone didn't like their carrot cake, but we told him it might have just been older. The new piece we got had the same dry, crumbly consistency, but we never called them back to tell them. If I go back for dessert I'll get something else as there were so many other yummy...
Read moreMont Olympos Diner is a great breakfast spot. As a diner we all know you can have any meal there but my friends and I had breakfast.
The waitress knew us as we've been there several times before. She let us know that the shrimp salad was back!!! We actually hadn't been to that Diner in a little while because one of our friends only likes the shrimp salad and she doesn't want to go there if she could not have any!! This day she was away on vacation.
I sent a group text to her including the rest of us saying "It's back!!!" Now we can all come here together again.
Anyhow, the four of us that were there had breakfast🍽☕. One friend had pancakes 🥞 and eggs 🍳, another had whole wheat pancakes with blueberries and walnuts and bacon 🥓 on the side, our third friend had eggs, home fries and ww toast 🍞 and I had an american cheese omelette w/ fries 🍟and rye toast.
The diner was packed that day. Its good to see people are coming out and supporting local businesses.
I'd say if you're in Yonkers, on Central Avenue, you should stop by Mount Olympus and grab breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or dessert. Anything you have will be just...
