For the most part I love shopping in this store. The deli folks are amazing and I completely appreciate the diligence and work they put into what is currently the last remaining (and clean) salad bar in the region. That alone brings me in at least 2-3 times per week.
BUT I am completely over the miserable and cranky older checkout ladies who obviously detest the fact that some of us like to bring our own reusable grocery bags. This has been going on for a long time now and this location is the ONLY store in the area that has cashiers like this.
Maybe it is because no one has taught them out to bag using a reusable bag. It is NOT difficult and these bags are much easier to use and are much sturdier than those flimsy plastic bags that bust open before you get them home.
The main lesson is: do not put ALL of the heavy items in one bag and ALL of the lighter items in the other. They do this every single time then show their frustration because the bag is heavy for them to lift up onto the counter. Guess what? Then it's heavy for me also to put in the car then have to carry up steps into my home. If there are 2 bags, put some heavy items into the bottom of each bag, then top each one off with lighter weight items. The lighest items such as bread go on the very top. It does not take a genius to figure this out.
Today I put my items on the belt hoping P would get the hint - heavy/light, heavy/light. P was in a bad mood already and going by her expression and her not saying a word when I got there, no hello nothing, I could guess how this experience was going to go. She pulled all of the heavy items off the belt and put them into one bag. I could see it was heavy for her to then lift up onto the counter. Then she put the few remaining lighter items in the other bag and asked me if I want my soap items in there. NO, you don't put smelly soap items in the same bag with food. (That is lesson #2: if the customer does not have enough bags, either offer to sell an extra reusable bag, or put those items into a plastic one.) The rest of the time was miserable and she was rude. It's not my fault that YOU don't know how to bag groceries.
It's certainly not all of the cashiers here, many are very very nice, but there are a certain few that seem to make the front-end environment toxic overall for everyone. Customers can see this, and we become part of that when...
Read moreUpdate - I did call the number you provided. I spoke to Rochelle who kindly took my information. I'm requesting a copy of the video of the event from my company truck cameras. His black jacket looked like it had this stores brand on it. Event - We were parked there this morning, in a bobtail truck. This means it takes a couple of spaces. We parked by the road furthest from the store. We left the truck to get to go food placing a sign in the window saying we are here as customers with our phone number on the sign just incase. The signs in the parking lot only say parking for customers only, we did make sure to read them. We arrived back at the truck and were planning on going into this main store for some groceries. We were brewing another cup of coffee in the truck. Someone knocked on the window, I immediately rolled it down. This man was extremely rude and looked like some sort of angry security personnel he was short and bald headed driving a large dark SUV. He loudly told me get my truck out of there immediately. I said no problem. He then told me he was serious he better not see me again. I told him that's fine. I'm in the driver seat ready to roll and he continued to get meaner and angrier. I was totally compliant and trying to move. He then started coming back towards my window saying, "why are you looking at me crazy?" I am not used to confrontation and perfer peaceful situations. My husband then comes up to the front of the truck and tells this security man he doesn't need to be an Ahole to me. I was really trying to leave quickly because this man was acting way out of line. I was nervous about what he might do next. My truck has cameras all around it and is accessible only by my company. So they will see how the situation went and that I wasn't illegally parked. They will even see that I was a customer there in the plaza. Unfortunately I never got to go in the grocery store. But I'll get groceries elsewhere. As a truck driver it's easier to pick up food and groceries bobtail with no trailer. This man should not be allowed to be in a position to make people feel scared of what he might do. I'm so glad I wasn't alone and that we have our full sided camera system. He also took pictures of me and my truck. Again though I didn't do anything unsafe or wrong...
Read moreMy husband went to get crab legs as stated online for $7.99 a pound in Clark summit pa they were $10.99 when he got there for our anniversary dinner, a manager came over named Jordan told my husband to put the right store in which he did and he kept insisting it wasn't his store online there are many others but may honor it. Then he came back and said he put in Clark summit and it shows $10.99 so he won't honor it. So I went to gerritys website then picked Clark summit Gerrity's store and it came up $7.99 so I walked over to show him and said look I did it with Clark summit store and it came uo $7.99 and he said oh you didn't put the store in there several and he kept going as his voice raised and he wouldn't let me explain or get a word in so I said look just pay attention and I'll show you what I did. He said nasty excuse me your gonna be rude to me this conversation is over. I said I'm not being rude to you I'm just trying to show you how I found the price at your store, he walked away very nasty would not listen very and he was very rude and nasty to me! Childish for a manager! he said take it up with corporate etc I said Oh Jordan I will!! You are to help your customers , as I too worked in customer service most my life and never treated anyone the way you are treating me. I am very upset by the way this Manager Jordan treated me and set my PTSD OFF! he would not resolve this manner or discuss to help us even if it was marked wrong they are to still honor that price. If not then he could have handled it in a kind manner and been respectful about it. As a manager you do not treat your customers this way!! I seriously hope he gets reprimanded and has to do classes on how to treat people customers and hopefully JORDAN does not treat his employees this way just saying. HAPPY...
