We arrived on a Sunday, and the proprietor on duty seemed put out to have to cater to customers. She was on the phone, saying loudly enough in an annoyed tone that she had to deal with customers & couldn't leave. In subsequent interactions with my mother-in-law, her manner & tone was brusque to the point of rudeness when asked the price of an object. Later, I had a book I wanted to purchase and tried to negotiate the price. She ultimately rejected my offer, which is all well & good I suppose (though the difference between what she wanted & what I wanted to pay came down to 7% tax). I offered to replace the book where I found it, and she said I could keep it right there, insinuating with her tone & facial expressions that I would steal it otherwise.

I am from California I visited this shop when I was in Lewiston. I only had a few minutes to look before closing. She was a very nice and allowed me to browse even after her posted hours. I was interested in a piece she offered to reduce the price fairly. Since I was flying back I did not purchase the item. Its a great place to go often if you are looking for a special piece. But its even better to spend the whole day. Right now she has vintage furniture on sale & when she marks down she is a real price slasher. When you go be sure you remember to look way up high,down low, behind items on display and even in drawers of the display.
