We've read about less than favorable results from people recently visiting Roosters. We like to go there to sit outside on the deck overlooking the Snake River but have not been in a while. So we packed up the kids, grandkids and took a trip to Roosters. I can say without a doubt it was the most pleasant dining experience we've had in the Lewiston/Clarkston valley and certainly one of the best we've had at Roosters. Our server; Leslie was the best. She knew what she was doing and was professional yet fun loving and fast. When my son had issues changing his order twice and then gave his choice she replied with..."is that your final answer"? We cracked up. She was not a helicopter server either, but very aware of when we needed waters refilled, drinks refilled and took great care of our dining needs without constantly hovering. She knew her job and did it very well! The food...kids had grilled cheese, loved it! I had the pulled pork sandwich and was the best I've had in over 2 years anywhere. We had a variety of orders with "shareables" and nothing but compliments to the chef. Lastly some of us are beer drinkers but not IPA lovers. It was great to see a couple of Ambers on the menu and we got lucky...they had our favorite on tap...Backwoods Brewery Cross line Amber! Loved the entire experience!! Again, we had a great time and meal at Roosters...thank you Leslie and the rest of the crew that made our evening fantastic!! You all work hard, especially in today's environment and...
Read morePerhaps it's a result of over hyped expectations but I was generally disappointed. Other than the location, view of the snake river and relatively high price for very little food on the plate, it didn't live up to the hype. Maybe the good folks of the LC Valley just need a better selection of eateries in general.
We have found 1 or 2 dishes at places that aren't bad around the valley but the locals we met sure talked up Roosters.. But it's just an ok imitation of a Red Robin with fewer options, stranger flavor profiles and smaller portions.
Quick Tips from a consumer, if you write "sausage coins" don't cut them into chunks. Tots are served in volume not fours no matter what they are stuffed with...
Nod to the waitress- she was friendly and though not beer savy suggested a flight which they called a six pack, which is fine but if you're out of a beer that we are expecting don't substitute another without asking the customer first or saying something like "if we are out of a beer is it ok for the bartender to select a replacement for you"? And if it is cool.... Always substitute UP!
I REALIZE that my reviews can be hard to swallow, like soggy sweet slaw on a lower bun of a burger... (Hard no!- if its not smoky or actaully pulled pork... Um- no slaw). But here it is and its free.
We Reserve the right not to patronize any establishment twice. :/
Amen... Yeah, said a prayer...
Read moreOver the past 20 odd years I've eaten there at both locations ( probably 10 times or less ) & various offerings though not recently until a couple of days ago which interrupted a walkabout. My choice was a Reuben with side salad with blue cheese dressing. Lynn's choice was the fish (cod) tacos. The Reuben was with toasted marbled rye with one side overly buttered, good flavored, meat not really corned beef, from my experience, and not much of it. Thousand Island dressing & Swiss cheese as usual. Two limp, thin slices of dill pickle & salad were unremarkable. The fish tacos were filled mostly of cabbage, onion (overly so) with a bit of grated cheese & small pieces of deep fried cod, topped with chopped tomatoes & a bit of cilantro. Green salsa accompanied the 3 tacos. I ate one of the three. Opinion... nothing much positive. The Reuben was unremarkable; there could have been more & better quality corned beef; where was the sauerkraut? Couldn't find much blue cheese in the dressing (check out the casino's blue cheese dressing!): the taco was messy, over filled with non - fish & not much flavor. The lack of fish included made me think what was there didn't hurt the fish much. $25 without tip. Don't think I'll be back here for quite awhile in spite of it's location &...
