Update: I was able to have a conversation with Joe. He listened to the story about my last visit and handled everything with grace. He allowed me to switch my box for a complete one. He also pointed me to Dana, their Battletech expert. I went in got my new set and Dana told me a lot about the universe of Battletech and how I can get a grip on the huge amount of lore. Dana did a great job, I look forward to going back if this the hospitality I can expect moving forward.
I'm leaving the contents of the old review below so you all can see the context of how well this was handled. 3 days is all it too for the store to get everything done. Pretty dang good if you ask me.
I stopped by the store to get started in a new hobby, Battletech Alpha Strike. I was unsure if there were any staff present after walking around and finding there Battletech section. There were a group of young men clustered around the counter but none of them looked like they worked in the store. I then just ask the group, "Hey I need some help, does anyone know anything about Battletech." The group singled out who the worker must be. One of them said "Oh looks like you have to do some work man." A guy shorter than me with dark brown or black hair approached me and simply stated, " I don't know about any thing of that stuff." stood there for about five seconds and walked away. I figure things out on my own grabbed the starter set, a box of mechs, and a battle map set. I usually open my purchases to check for missing/damaged components but this time I didn't check all of them. I only opened the box of mech. I get home open the starter set an see and empty molded slot where a mini should clearly be sitting. The start box comes with 13 mechs usually, I only have 12. I'm missing the Blackjack mini. So, I call the store and say "Hey remember me I'm the guy who bought the Alpha strike set 15 minutes ago I'm missing a mini, will it be a big fight if I were to return to the store an request a refund for this box set?" I'm then accused of lying, implying that I have some scheme to keep the mini for myself and that I should contact the manufacturer if I want a replacement mini. That's it, didn't even try to help me out in any way. I would have accepted some sort of compromise but they just don't care about their customer's satisfaction I guess. A real shame to see the spirit of Rick is still in that building. New name...
Read morePlayed in the doubles tournament on Saturday and wound up having a great time. Everyone was pleasant enough, it was a tournament after all so people are going to be a little more competitive than usual. There was another guy who showed up and wanted to play in the team tournament with no partner, the judge offered to call and text a bunch of his friends to see if they could swing by and team up with him. The judge said that as long as they show up by the end of the first round he was good to go. The judge even asked a few players, including myself, in private if they were okay with having a guy play by himself. I was not okay with it and neither where the others by the looks of it. So to see his scathing review is unfair to the shop because the judge jumped through hoops so he could try and play. I feel bad because someone left a review that is unfair to the shop I have been going to for over a year because I love the people who go and play there. It's like a home away from home. Majority of the players are my friends outside the shop as well. The tournament was great and organized! Moral of the story is before you read the review of one person who had a negative experience there. Read all the positive notes as well. And always remember there are two sides to...
Read moreSeems like I got the same impersonal attitude that I just read through in the low ratings of this place. Funny enough, I had the experience before reading through reviews. My GF told me to check out the store from a recommendation from a guy that saw my cards and said they may be interested, so I brought slabs to potentially sell. They Don't do slabs. It was just the cold attitude and lack of general friendlyness amongst collectors that turned me off. He asked me for what I wanted for a SGC10 Joe burrow rookie select white die cut, but then knocked that it wasn't a PSA or Beckett.(again they don't even do slabs) Old ways of thought with so many grading services that are emerging. I would recommend going somewhere else. You'll get people that are enthusiastic about the hobby, and so much more personable. My gf and her father mentioned how terrible that interaction was. It was less about selling anything and more about feeling like I should have never given them my time to even try to be friendly because they were NOT. Will not ever...
