I'm a female with type 4C hair who did "the big chop" at a salon a few years ago, and I decided to give this place a shot earlier this year when I realized that I needed to find somewhere very close to home for cuts - and after my husband had a good experience. The atmosphere is great, and Alex has such a positive, super-chill vibe. He listens to your needs and makes sure you don't walk out of there unless you are satisfied. I've been there three times and can attest to the consistency of the experience. This most recent time, Alex had an emergency so Malek cut my hair instead, and he was excellent as well. The price is very fair.

They do many skin fades here, but don't let the Insta pictures deter you if that's not what you want. My hair is short, but I don't want a skin fade and they've never given me one. I typically go as short as 1.5/2 at the very bottom, up to 5.5 on the top...and I also don't want the "sculpted edges" look (I like to keep it more natural looking so it doesn't look weird as it's growing out). I have been going to Alex for years before he had his own shop. While there is a huge selection of barbers and salons out there i have chosen to stick to Epic Salon and my preference has always been with Alex. Although i have to travel a bit of distance to get to his shop I do this because i know that i will get a reliable service. While Alex and his team have a variety of styles and cuts, my needs are pretty basic. With that said anyone can do a basic cut but an experienced professional like Alex makes a basic cut into a piece of art. He does not read minds but works with the individual to cut to their preference and i think for any cut there needs to be a solid communication between the customer and the stylist. I have experience with many barbers and stylists and thus far Alex remains my barber/stylist and I have not bothered to look for anyone else. His prices are very reasonable.
