One of the reasons that I come to this store is that its around the corner. the people that work here are nice, and the place is kept clean, but having to keep coming back up for items either not not scanned, not bagged, or not giving it to me is getting out of control. part of the cashiers job is to make sure the customer gets all of their items and if another employee is going to come over and take over bagging (i don't mind helping when they are short) but they need to make sure everything get in the cart other wise, let me finish. especially if you're not going to pay attention, but over all 6 times I have been to this store where I have had to come back. again. if you're not going to finish it properly and make sure that everything made it into the basket, let me finish, or give some focus. I really enjoyed the way i was stared at when I explained the ordeal. no body, not you or me should have to keep running up to the store. an "I'm sorry you had to deal with that would have gone a long way. Acknowledge the customer, or go home. I hear some of you make 19 an hour. double what we made, and we were on top of things in my day. as far as the rest of the store. i like the pet dept. has what i need. and other than not getting items or acting like its okay that you had to drive up several different times to get items that you didn't get, the staff are pretty stellar. the electronics dept needs some work. it lacks a lot of everyday items people would get. the records are kept in the back locked up and not properly stored. might as well send them back if they are not going to be sold. but there are lots of open spots, missing product, the ordering is zilch. and can you guys get some nice men's clothes? doesn't anybody around here have weddings to go to, funerals? interviews? most everything in their ends up on the discount rack , and there's nothing in there worth getting unless you golf, are outdoorsy, etc. get some style or something.. i figure if I'm going to rant, im going to rant. oh also. a lot of price tags missing lately, and I hardly think having potatoes sitting up front where sale items are usually sitting. WITHOUT A PRICE TAG at a price for 5.49 is...
Read moreEdit for 2024: Not a whole lot has changed, the store still needs updating and a deep cleaning. The produce department is a disaster and the shelves are not well stocked at all. If this store wasn't so convenient and the only grocery store within 5 miles of my home, aside from Aldi which is terrible and Value Center which is no value LOL, I would go elsewhere. Not sure why this store can't be updated and why the store director still has a job. They should promote the bald manager who is always there working his tail off. Do better Meijer and clean the store up, a little bleach and Lysol would help a lot. Edit: Now it's 2022...this store has gone all the way down the hill. The employees are still great, those who didn't leave because of the terrible management. The store director is too cheap to fix anything around that store! There are two dead trees that have been dead for 2 years now in the parking lot which is like any Michigan road lol. Half the parking lot lights don't work, the bottle room is trashed all the time. Today I wasn't even able to use a debit card or cash ?! Somebody at corporate needs to address that poor store director and the nasty conditions that store is in. I'm thinking it's time to call the problem solvers and the health department. My original review from years ago is below lol. Original review: The Groesbeck Highway store is by far one of the better Meijer stores in the area. Although, sometimes it can be very hit or miss on the weekends. The deli is very understaffed but the staff is friendly. Overall a nice store.
Edit again now Sept 2022: sent an email to corporate about my above complaints and received an auto reply form email stating that the director would call me back and still no call, been over a month.
Edit for November 2022...never received any further communication from the store director after he emailed saying he'd be in contact with me. Meijer has really gone down hill lately, especially the Clinton...
Read moreIts an okay place to shop. The staff is very overworked. Many of the stores (especially in this very busy corridoor of Michigan) are understaffed. If you come in during the nightshift stocking session, you will find the store destroyed, empty boxes completely filling the entire aisle making it so that you can't get through.
The store is mostly a self-scan first type store. There are literally dozens of cash registers unstaffed even during the busiest times of the year during the biggest rush of the day.
What's more, since grocery shopping is becoming increasingly inconvienient, more individuals are opting for services that will go out and do the shopping for them, and deliver the goods to their doorstep.
Because of the proliferation of these services, which is only creating a new job market of underpaid, overstressed people, you tend to feel more and more like a second class citizen shopping from the supermarket floor. A Meijer-hosted service will load up a grocery car and deliver the goods to your house. Meanwhile, virtually no effort is placed in maintaining the produce aisle, where I can see with my eyes the condition of the veggies. There have been times I have come in and the vast majority of the produce was past expiration and/or rotten with mold. Really gross...
Something fundamental needs to change about the way that we supply people with food to level the playing field, because right now it feels like there's those who care about their food enough to attempt to be smart shoppers and search for the best produce in person, ultimately coming up short due to the high amount of actually rotting food in the storefront, and then there's...
