This is one of those places where you really want to love ‘em, but they just keep giving you more and more reasons not to. On my latest visit, I encountered a problem: an item I was buying (vintage cream & sugar container set) began leaking water all over my other items in my cart. I opened the cream container to find what looked like dirt, dead bugs, and water inside. I’m guessing someone donated the item after leaving it sitting in a basement for awhile). There was an employee, who the cashier told me is named Cindy, who was stocking shelves as I was shopping. I handed her the gross items and mentioned what was wrong. Mind you, I have dirty water on me, on my other items in my cart, and I’m already grossed out. Cindy proceeded to tell me they likely just cleaned those items and that’s why they were wet. I told her that they definitely weren’t clean, and had bugs and dirt inside. She proceeded to scoff at me as I walked away, leaving the items with her. I turned back around and asked if there was a problem, and she rudely responded saying, “oh, so you don’t want them then?!” Newsflash, Cindy! Nobody wants to buy an item that is disgustingly dirty and wet. When I asked the cashier if there was someone in charge available to speak to regarding the attitude from Cindy, I was told that they were not there and nobody was in charge at the moment.
Many Hands has a history of pricing items far above even their brand new value. On the same trip mentioned above, I noticed dollar tree coffee mugs (with the dollar tree barcode still on them!) marked $2, when one could go buy the same mugs for $1/$1.25 (whatever they’re charging now, still less than $2).
The combination of rude staff, dirty items, and overpricing items is my cue to not return...
Read moreI usually enjoy shopping here, but lately they seem to be missing the mark. They mark certain items like they are selling them on ebay the problem with that is they're not looking at what they sold for they are looking at what a seller is asking for. Another problem is that they mark items as vintage yet they are not vintage this is illegal and is known as bait and switch. My evidence for this is will be posted as a picture of an item they sold me and claimed it was vintage yet after doing research it's not vintage. I have come across many items they mark as vintage in the store yet they are not. I could understand one or two items marked as vintage by accident but when you have dozens of items marked as vintage then you are running a scam and I will be reporting them to the Iowa Attorney General's Office. Also bought a pair of binoculars from them and of course they claim they are from WWII and yet they were not. Looks like a lawsuit is coming their way.
The Mickey Mouse Bendable is not even close to being vintage. Vintage means it's 40 years or older. This toy was manufactured anywhere...
Read moreThis is our current favorite thrift store. It definitely has the largest toy and stuffed animal collection of the Des Moines consignment shops. They just added a large assortment of used wedding dresses the top out at only $50. Prices range from those dressed down to as low as 25 cents for some cocktail swords. Unfortunately, cell phone reception is interfered with by incoming tachyon beam messages from the year 2032. Most of them talk of your vehicle engine warranty expiring, but it seems to me you have...
