Me and my fiancé were there today looking around for a gift for my friend , when we were leaving the store there was a “ mall cop “ standing at the door yelling at us telling my fiancé that he had a gun on him. And that she was checking everyone because they heard there was a couple with they gun but as she was talking there was multiple kids walking by and she did not stop them and ask them anything she just decided to follow us and keep harassing us Till we left . We will never return back to that mall ever again . I consider that discrimination , and just plain out treating us like we were some kind of criminals or something . Isk what her deal was . when we probably have more money in the bank then she makes in a year ... We are 30 years old and We have never owned a gun in our lives. Ever ! The way she talked to him was SO disrespectful, it blow my mind . I got some are the recorded I was just so blown away by the way he was being treated otherwise I would’ve pulled it out right away and recorded the whole thing so that we could show the cops . This lady should not have her job . She might Think she’s a cop but I hate to break it to her she’s a mall enforcer . And it’s clearly getting to her head. So if you ever see a lady about 5’5 , dark brown hair , no mask. I would stay away or you may end up in the same position and let her make you feel the way she did us . Good look fellow Nittany lion...
Read moreThis mall used to be a great place to shop but recently it seems to have turned into little more than a ghost town, a shadow of what it once was. At one end what was once several shopping units is now a gym - not a great sign for a shopping mall. Sears recently closed its doors, Bon-Ton is apparently soon to follow. Walking around the mall you'll see empty stores all over the place.
Part of the problem is that, for whatever reason, many of the large well-known chains have opened up shop across town, at the north end of Atherton St. Without the anchor brands to draw people in to the mall it becomes less attractive to smaller retailers, and hence the small units sit empty. And when there's an empty store the size of the one formerly occupied by Sears, there are only so many companies that would be interested in a store that size, many of whom would probably prefer to be elsewhere.
Last time I was there it was for a specific store - normally I don't even bother coming to this mall any more. Even then it was depressing walking around and seeing just how many...
Read moreThere is so much work that goes into a trip to the mall for pictures with Santa. The last thing we expected was to show up to a nearly empty line and a "closed" sign. Apparently the manager decided to work through the hour break and close early. This ruined our plans and several families that showed up on time.
The website says to show up before 430 and we were there at 350. We could have paid $10 extra for a 430 reservation and still been denied service. The manager came out and told us they were closing and left us and 4 other families there to talk and call customer service while the shop was shutdown.
Our four kids did not enjoy the sight of watching Santa walk away without talking to them. It was heartbreaking. So I am leaving this review as a warning to any family trying to visit Santa this year at the Nittany Mall. Go when they open and don't expect the managers to care about your kid's experience...
