Bonfire Old Fashioned BBQ — Restaurant in College Township

Caution: wear your stretchy pants when you come here because you are going to want to try everything! This restaurant is delicious! This family run business has the most friendly staff, ask them what their favourites are and you will get great recommendations. We both ordered the brisket sandwich. I got mash potatoes for a side and my husband got fries. The brisket is the BEST brisket we (both of us) have ever had. We are from Canada’s brisket capital and this was the absolute best brisket - your taste buds will thank you! My mash potatoes were super creamy, so yummy. My husband’s fries were crispy and tasty - hitting the spot! We also ordered a side of mac and cheese, we are Canadian (Canada eats more Mac and cheese than any other country). This Mac and cheese was creamy and exactly what you want when you are thinking of having a Mac and cheese. Order it. Just try it. You will thank yourself for this treat! The staff brought us samples of the chili mac and cheese, the ghost pepper bbq sauce, AND the cornbread dessert with custard and strawberry sauce! The chili Mac and cheese was amazing! Such a great option for a Mac and cheese! The ghost pepper sauce has this incredible balance of hot and sweet without being overwhelming. (Dipping Mac and cheese in this was amazing too - soooo tasty!) The cornbread with custard and strawberry sauce is a must order! This one blew my mind, my taste buds are in heaven! It is unfair they only allow 5 stars. I would definitely give way more. If you are ever looking for somewhere to eat in State College and enjoy BBQ food, then this is your place. I have tried BBQ all over the United States and theirs is fantastic. The flavor is out of this world. They do not skimp on flavor with anything they do. I tried the brisket with all of their BBQ sauces and their chili mac. Both had flavor. I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to eat it at the store because I had a 2+ hour drive home. They were extremely nice and packaged it all for reheating, so it wasn't ruined by the time I got home. They were extremely nice people, and their customer service was exemplary. When I got home and heated it all up, it was perfect. I enjoyed it all. The cornbread is a make or break for a lot of places. Their cornbread was fresh, soft and moist. Went to Bonfire Old Fashioned BBQ tonight for fish. Wow, what a great experience. Guy directed us in, held the door, welcomed us, seated us and we didn’t have one server, we had several. The guy (I’m guessing owner manager) cheerfully gave us a sample of their chili over creamy Mac n cheese. It’s a specialty of theirs. Superb. Husb had fish dinner and I had fish sandwich. Superb. Multiple people checked on us several times, free drink refills without a wait. We were thanked for coming in and I believe the lady of the place escorted us out an exit they don’t use on regular basis because it was closer to where we parked and flat covered walk for my husband walking with a cane. We wanted dessert but no room; servings are awesome. We’re going back some evening just to have a treat. Clean, warm atmosphere, spacious seating, great food and service as well as appropriate pricing. Highly recommend.
