Awful customer service, many of the workers are plain rude and unprofessional. We went in to look at fitness benches for lifting. The fitness section (which is never staffed) also has a lot of equipment that is mislabeled. A few small items here and there that are mislabeled and priced wrong is understandable, but to have huge expensive equipment consistently priced wrong on the labels is misleading and unacceptable. We had to hunt down a worker for help in determining which lifting racks came with which benches and it was clear even the sales associate was confused. When we had finally picked out a fitness bench and rack to buy we proceeded to wait in the checkout line while the worker went in the back to get the equipment we had selected to buy. Luckily I made sure to see if he brought out the right bench because it was not the right one we had told him we wanted. There was no apology or anything and he went back to get the right one. The cashier was also unfriendly, never smiled, or explained anything to us. We waited at checkout and noticed on the receipt something rang up the wrong price. We told her and she didn't say a word and just changed the price which was good. After the guy helped us load the equipment onto the car we said thanks and he didn't say a word, just turned and left. As we put the lifting rack and bench together along with the barbell set we bought, we noticed they didn't give us one of the boxes that came along with the barbell set! Went in to exchange a pair of sweatpants that cost 125 dollars that were purchased as a gift from my wife. I know you need a receipt and I understand there are people constantly trying to scam the system but I have an account with Dicks and every purchase made is in their system. I know this because Iāve returned items before and theyāve always just looked up my purchases on my account to pull my receipt. I live in Hilliard so my family and I generally go to the Rome Hilliard location but today my kids have basketball practice in UA and so I went to the sawmill location to return the pant. Nobody was going to go the extra mile to help. The gentleman (Chris R) just stood there with a dumb look on his face and wouldnāt offer any kind of help even after looking up my account and seeing I spend hundreds of dollars there pretty much every other week. He still sounded like a robot and kept reading the script CANT EXCHANGE WITH NO RECEIPT. These were bought as a present from my wife, the fit was great, unfortunately when I went to put them on, I noticed a hole near the pocket. I just wanted to exchange them for a new pair. I passed by at least five employees or had them walk by me, one of them even appeared to be a manager or a shift lead (brown hair, scruffy, glasses, wearing a cream sweater). Not a single employee checked on me or any of the other customers. They didnāt even look at me as I was trying to compare items on my phone and was trying to figure out the layout of the store. One associate went to the manager and complained that there were three associates standing up front doing nothing. The manager explained to the associate that he had to work on a large truck order. Could I have asked for help? Sure. But Iāve been in retail since 2012 and have been in leadership or management since 2014. Iāve always been of the mind that truck can wait when there are customers because the customer comes first. Letās face it, without the customers you have no business. I get that you have a lot going on, but you need to treat your customers better. Needless to say I will never be back, I can spend my money elsewhere.
