I like to start with the positive: The chicken was delicious. I really enjoyed the sauce and the charcoal-grilled flavor. It would have been top-notched if the meat had been at least warm.

The negative: The rice and peas had no flavor and extremely dry. The macaroni, which was better than the rice and peas, was only a minute serving. My food was not hot nor even warm. It was my mistake for even stopping when I noticed that there was no food truck, only a pop-up tent stand. Even more so, I should have gotten back in my car when I noticed food was only in pans with no warmers underneath.

I told the young lady I almost passed the location because I did not see a food truck. She stated the food truck was at another location. I hate to say, but it is not fair to customers to not be fully equipped at all locations, especially if quality diminishes at the tent site. There was only a little table-top fryer to fry conch fritters. My conch fritters were greasy because, I am almost sure, oil did not get hot enough before frying.

Maybe I would have had a better experience had I been at the location of the food truck, but I doubt if I will ever find out. My motto is, if it is not good the first try, I will not waste my money again giving...

Ma Bui’s absolutely lives up to its name! The food is bursting with island flavor, served hot off the grill with good vibes all around. We stopped by during the weekly Clintonville farmers’ market and had the island ribs, lobster mac, and rice.

Grilled Chicken - Juicy and packed with flavor. Had to get another portion to eat the next day. Platains - sweet and delicious. The caramelization of the plantains was perfect. Peas N Rice - A nice classic peas and rice. Good flavor and portion size. Seafood mac - a nice baked mac to have on the side of the chicken. Curry Chicken - Perfection! The flavor of the curry was well balanced and delightful. Daughter almost ate it all before I could get a bite to try.
