I recently took my old record player and amp in to get repairs from Audiowright. I was excited about this because the record player was my fathers and probably hadn't been looked at once in about 20 years. Needless to say it was time for a repair.
I knew both pieces had some issues. The record player arm wouldn't raise on it's own and the amp had a few channels out in the back.
When you take a piece in to Audiowright they charge you $60 to look at it and that amount goes toward the final repairs.
The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was that they couldn't even look at my stuff for 9-10 week. It actually took a few days beyong 10 weeks, so if you want something fixed you better be ok not seeing it for a while.
That being said, when they finally got around to looking at my stuff, it only took about 3 more days to fix it.
They ended up fixing all my problems stated above and I also had them do some extra stuff that wasn't totally necessary such as buying a new cartridge and replacing the lights in the amp.
In the end I got everything fixed for about 240$, which in the grand scheme of things was a steal. Buying a new record player and amp would have been much more than that.
In the end I would definitely recommend Audiowright. Just make sure you check on their return...
Read moreMichael has repaired two three-head cassette decks for me, and he did a fantastic job with both of them. He is a very careful and knowledgeable repairman. His prices are very fair also.
As others have noted, when he takes your equipment in, you go in the queue. It's going to be a couple months before he gets to your job. But when he does, your piece will get his full and expert attention. I have found his communication to be reliable - he doesn't make empty promises.
A little detail on the repair work he did for me: in addition to needing new belts and other adjustments, one of my cassette decks somehow got some magnetic material ground into one of the pinch rollers. Every time the pinch roller went around, it recorded a click to whatever tape was playing. If you played the tape again, you'd get another layer of clicks. Michael diagnosed the problem and solved it. The deck is now like new and I am enjoying it very much!
I would take my electronics here without any hesitation and I give Michael's shop my highest recommendation. He's a pleasure to do...
Read moreI had purchased a used Marantz receiver from liquidation auction. It was not cheap. No warranty and stopped working immediately after I got it home. My wife was going to kill me for spending money on a broken receiver. Fortunately I found this shop. The owner is very busy, because he does good work, so be prepared to wait for up to two months unless you want to pay non-refundable rush fee. I paid the fee of $99. and my item was repaired in one day. Now I can once again sleep in my house...
