My partner and I went to Food Street for dinner tonight intending to eat in. When we arrived around 8pm all of the tables were full with many people waiting around for tables so we decided to order to go and eat at home. We ordered Gappy Chaat, Golden Gappy, a mango lassi and a mango mojito. These turned out to be a bad choice for take out but we did not know this at that time since we have never tried these things before.
We were not given a number like the eat in customers. We found a place to wait in the back of the restaurant wondering how they would let us know our food was ready. Eventually someone came by who looked like a manager and asked us if we had a number. We mentioned to them we were waiting for a to go order. They checked on our order and it turned out our ticket haven't even printed but they told us they were working on it. They did give us our drinks at this point calling out our name when they did so. From this interaction we figured it wouldn't be too long until our food was ready and they would call out our names when it was ready. We waited closer to the front to make sure we could see if they ever called our names.
They never called our names. After about an hour wait since we ordered our food we asked about our food again and it turns out it had been ready for some time just sitting on the counter. We did not ask before this because we believed since the place was just busy it was just taking a while and we were willing to be patient. We also never got a text when our food was ready.
When the staff did give us our food they said "we didn't know you were waiting". This is unreasonable since we had been waiting since we ordered and there was a staff member who specifically spoke to us. We also did not receive any apology for our long wait.
The food was cold when we finally got home 5 minutes after finally getting the food at Food Street. I've never had these food before, so I don't know what temperature they were supposed to be. The food was pretty well flavored so no complaints where. We didn't know which of the sauces we received went with wich meal but that was okay since they all worked with both meals. I would not suggest either of these meals to go since they were not fully assembled and would probably be better eaten in.
Overall, I was very disappointed with how they handled take out food ordered in person. There seemed to be no real system for alerting the customers their food is ready. Ideally we would have liked to have been given a number and our food brought out to us, but at least our named called when it was ready. Additionally, once we noticed our food was ready, it felt like the staff was blaming us for not asking them for our food when we didn't even know...
Read moreWe visited as a group of four and were thrilled to discover the first Lahore street food experience in Columbus. The interior was beautifully designed, capturing the vibrant and lively essence of a food street. The atmosphere was fantastic and set the tone for a great meal.
Food: 5/5 The food was simply amazing! Each dish was flavorful and authentic, leaving no room for complaints. It's clear that a lot of effort has gone into perfecting the recipes, and we truly appreciated the delicious offerings.
Atmosphere: 5/5 The vibe was unmatched—energetic, colorful, and inviting. It's a place where you'd want to linger and soak in the ambiance.
Service: 3/5 While the food and atmosphere were stellar, the service could use some refinement. Here's some constructive feedback:
**Our four orders arrived individually, with items like sides and drinks served at separate times. It would enhance the experience to have all items for a single order delivered together.
**The restaurant was understandably busy during the soft opening, but it was confusing to identify the line. A simple sign indicating where to queue would help immensely.
**Some orders were missing utensils and straws. While this wasn’t a big issue, going back to retrieve them was challenging because the counter was located near the busy cashier line, making it feel like swimming against the tide.
Suggestions for Improvement:
**Add clear signage to indicate where the line begins and ends. Create a self-serve station for utensils, straws, napkins, and trash disposal to make it easier for guests to access these without disrupting the flow of the line.
**Streamline the process so that all items in an order (e.g., rolls, sides, drinks) are served together, which will improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Overall, the experience was delightful, and the challenges seemed to stem from the soft opening and the high volume of guests. We're confident these will improve over time. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy more of this incredible street food and see how the...
Read moreThe Columbus outpost for Food Street is actually their second location (the other is in Secaucus NJ) and it specializes in Pakistani street food. The menu is varied with sandwich rolls, "burgers", and classic Lahore street food, and a wide number of Pakistani beverages. The restaurant is counter service, you order your food, get a number and they bring it out to you. I ordered the Gappa Chaat, which I've had before. It was excellent, it is large enough to share, and it does a fantastic job of mixing flavors and sauces that come together deliciously (Note, it's a cold dish). My wife got the Aalo Tikki Burger, which comes with some spicy mint sauce on the side. It really benefits from this sauce and comes together with great flavor and texture. Texture is key with an Aalo burger and they nailed it here. I also finished our meal with Karak Chai. I appreciated that it was genuinely traditional, served in a smaller cup with sugar on the side, this strong and flavorful chai is exactly what you'd get on the streets of Lahore Pakistan. Even though it's a fast casual restaurant, it has a lot of different kinds of seating (including a couple chair swings), and has long table to accommodate large parties. We were there on a Tuesday night and they were doing a solid business, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, as they had a solid number of people behind the counter. I really liked Food Street for its authenticity, great food, and...
