I signed my lease to live here for the summer expecting a luxury experience at the price point that I am paying. Unfortunately, I have experienced anything but that. Living here has been a complete nightmare for multiple reasons.

The first being the situation with the pool. From when I moved in on May 1st through mid June, the pool had approximately 4 inches of brown water, as seen in the photos. The pool was open for about 5 days after that and I thought the issue was over. No. I went to go to the pool and I was shocked to find stickers that said that the pool had been condemned by the city of Columbus because it failed to pass an inspection. Really? A "luxury" apartment complex can't pass a simple pool inspection? Nice. So I guess I signed my lease here expecting to be able to utilize a pool but it hasn't been accessible since the day that I moved in. I even went and asked a competing apartment complex to use their pool because I told them the situation with Uncommon, and they allowed me to because they felt bad (go highline at nine: sign a lease with them).

Another reason this building is not up to standard is security. Half of the time the doors do not lock and anyone can walk right into the building. I've noticed multiple times that the side doors are unlocked during the middle of the night and half of the time the front doors aren't even locked so that anyone can walk right in at all hours. One night I walked home and found 3 homeless people sleeping in the lobby and I was shocked. I'm genuinely scared for my safety here and that is completely unacceptable.

The quality of the conditions of the building in general is also a major issue. Multiple exit signs are hanging from the ceiling, the parking garage gates don't work (another security issue), one of the elevators is out of service, the trash is constantly overflowing in the hallways, and the list goes on and on. As you can see in the photos, one of the pipes in the ceiling of my kitchen is even leaking and has left water marks on the ceiling. They checked it out and said, "Oh no big deal." Okay, Uncommon. Also, my roommates light in his room has not worked for months and after many maintenance requests the issue still has yet to be resolved. This building is only one year old and already falling apart. It was clearly rushed to be finished in time and it very much shows.

I've talked to multiple other residents and they all have shared the same feelings. One person I talked to even told me "I can't wait to get the f* out of this building next month." For them to charge $1000+ per month and market themselves as a "luxury" apartment building should be criminal. I almost signed my lease here for the upcoming school year and thank god I didn't. Promise me, you do NOT want to live here. I hate this building with every fiber of my being and you can get much nicer experiences with other apartment complexes. Uncommon needs to be shut down, condemned, and investigated because what they are doing to their residents and how they are marketing themselves is complete and utter fraud. Stay as far away as you can from...

I have lived here the past year and disappointed is an understatement to describe my experience. Before signing a lease with my roommate I tried to take the negative reviews I read with a grain of salt only to find out they were the accurate responses of this place. More than half the time their stuff never works whether it be a broken hand sanitizer pump by the elevators with sticky disgusting disinfectant in it, or a broken elevator. It makes me absolutely frustrated with the amount of rent they charge tenants here to provide a horrible living space for everyone. You would think with all that money they would invest it in making the place nice, right? Wrong. I have talked to both current and previous tenants and everyone has had at least one experience of getting stuck in the elevator. An incident that happened last night for me was I came back from a night out very late so the office was closed by then. I came back to find that BOTH elevators were broken. They have had days to repair the other one and just haven’t moved a muscle and now both are broken. It said to use stairs but I had no way of knowing where the stairs even were located from inside of the lobby due to zero signs leading you to them. Because of that I ended up with no way of getting back into my place while being drunk, I was thankful enough my friend was able to pick me up and let me crash at her place. My other issue with this place is how poorly structured it is. My door doesn’t lock when you close it unless you slam the door which is annoying for everyone nearby. The walls are insanely thin, when my roommate would be in the living room I would be able to hear her as if she was in the same room as me. I’ve even been able to hear things from my bathroom while the shower is running. I’ve read numerous responses already and it’s the same copy paste “we’re sorry you’ve had a negative experience” from whoever manages the google page and it seems as if nothing is done to change those bad experiences from a year ago to happen to future residents. All in all it is not worth a single dollar. It’s an insanely high rent for a below low quality apartment. The fact that this building continues to somehow pass said inspections amazes me, you can tell it was made cheap and rushed, clearly they are very money hungry and greedy. If I can save anyone in the future from signing a lease here by this review that’s all I can hope for. I’m glad I’m able to move out of here in a few months. The only good part is that the staff in the lobby was usually always very nice but that’s not enough for me to rate this place anything above 1 star. If I could make it 0/5...

Although the Uncommon community has some positives, my experience here has unfortunately been quite negative overall. I first signed my lease with uncommon under the impression that I would be receiving a $1,000 gift card that could be put toward rent for August. This was a false promise and I did not receive my gift card until November after having to contact management several times regarding the topic. Around November I also experienced the first of many, many water leaks from my ceiling. Having my living room, carpet, coffee table, etc. soaked every time it has rained for months has been extremely frustrating. Maintenance does not communicate with the residents and will come into the apartments without notice. They have now cut a large hole in my ceiling without contacting me for over a week to explain what they are doing to fix this problem. They will not treat a leak in your ceiling as an emergency for several months. As for the complex in general. The majority of residents here are undergraduate students, but they are extremely messy. The hallways and trash rooms are constantly overflowing, with people being too lazy to put their trash down the garbage shoot. The elevators here frequently break, and so does the parking garage door that is meant to be protecting our cars that we pay $120 a month to park here. The walls of the apartments are paper thin and I can hear full conversations and music from people walking and driving on high street 5 floors below me as if they are right outside my living room. The library across the street plays strange opera or classical music at all times of the day that you can hear from your bedrooms too. Uncommon also uses a package room based off of an honor system where you use a code to access the room and grab your package, but this leaves the opportunity to also grab any other package sitting in the room. I had several packages stolen in December. I would like to end with some positive experiences I had at Uncommon though. The management here has been a pleasure to work with. They try their best to quickly address the concerns brought to their attention, and they work with the residents to make their experience here better. The complex also has great amenities with a large study lounge, gym, yoga room, clubhouse, etc. They keep these areas clean. They also have a security guard that sits in the entrance and does rounds on the floors during the weekends which makes the complex feel a little more safe. My negative experience here may have been a unique situation, but unfortunately I would not pay to...
