I've only eaten at Cocky's once, but since I'm of the minority opinion that Columbus actually has pretty good bagels, I'm not sure I'll be back. The Lox is about a quarter-mile from Cocky's and I think they do just about everything better (with one exception, noted below).
The good part is that I found ordering and picking up very simple even though it isn't super easy to find parking on High Street, and the highlight was the tater tots. For a couple bucks you get an extremely oversized portion of tots, and if they were salted a little that might enough reason to visit them again. In their absence, the "tator tots" at Buckeye Doughnuts will do!
I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese on a sesame bagel, and I thought the bagel seemed a little stiff and dry even though it was wrapped in foil with warm fillings. The real bummer was that you couldn't taste anything other than the herb cream cheese. Maybe the secret is to just order sandwiches without it, but every sandwich seems to include it. The sandwich was very filling, but there was no way to know it had eggs or sausage on it. So if I ever went back, it would probably just be for a bagel with cream cheese rather than a sandwich.
It's not truly bad or offensive or anything, but there are better options almost within...
Read moreThe food is good (great, even), but the coffee is not worth it at all. I've gotten Cocky's a half-dozen times via DoorDash and always had a good experience, but the time I most recently visited in-person was not a great experience.
It's worth noting that I haven't ordered Cocky's coffee through DoorDash, only food.
I ordered a large latte, which I had done in-person before and gotten a 20oz cup, but this time they told me that the previous person must have made a mistake because the 20oz and 16oz cups are reserved for drip coffee.
I ordered a latte, which the menu says is $5, and was charged $6. I did not modify it in any way. I only realized I was charged $6 for a $5 drink after I had already complained about the size, so I didn't really feel like complaining again right after.
Additionally, I was told that next time, I should order a double shot and ask for it in a large cup. First, that's not the same thing at all. Second, that adds even more cost to the price of the drink, far above any other place that sells coffee in Columbus.
Why are you selling espresso drinks, charging Starbucks prices for them, and only offering a 12oz size?...
Read moreAny time I try a new bagel place, I get a sesame or everything with plain cream cheese to see how their fundamentals are.
Long story short: go to any other bagel place in Columbus. This place is banking on their trendy design/branding to get business from college students but is nowhere near up to par in quality.
This bagel was arguably no better than what you can make at home with a $5 trip to the grocery store. The bagel was barely toasted and felt like it was just day old and purchased from somewhere else. The cream cheese was the worst part, I genuinely think they had someone in the back just take half a block of cold Philadelphia cream cheese and throw it on there. It was solid and cold. I had to bite through it and it kept my teeth marks. Bagels are my favorite food and I never in my life have had a worse one from a dedicated bagel shop. All of these 5 star reviews are from the co-owners themselves (they've left multiple with the same name) and their family members.
It is simply not worth coming here with the number of other options available a short...
