I entered the Concord NH Goodwill at 9:20 on Tuesday morning, while driving through town. While in the vestibule to the store, I watched 2 people hanging Christmas lights and neither one stopped to ask if I needed assistance or to greet me. I patiently waited then kindly said excuse me. One lady turned around as if to snarl at me (she has brown shoulder length hair with blonde roots). I said that I would like to offer this box of craft supplies for donation. She rudely told me that donations were not accepted until 10am. As I am not from the area, I couldnât come back after 10 and kindly said, âwould you mind taking it for me? I do not need a receipt.â She huffed and said I would need to take it out back and wait until donations opened to get a receipt. I reiterated that I did not need one. She grabbed the box out of my hands and mumbled walking away. I spoke up and said that she did not need to treat me in that rude manner and her reply was that it was âpolicyâ. Had I been the employee, I would have simply taken the box and seen to it that it went into the donations and thanked the donor. Not even a thank you, just anger from her. Kindness trumps policy and I will see to it that future donations go into a yellow metal box instead. Furthermore, both ladies looked like they had just rolled out of bed and arrived to work. Does Goodwill have a policy that includes professional appearance and courtesy? Or should we blame that on COVID? Totally disgusted by this experience and a lack of basic standards!! Perhaps you should add a...
Read moreFirst of all, letâs all laugh at the name âGoodwillâ. They are taking clothes that they got for free, paying their employees dirt wages that is the employees that arenât volunteers, and does anyone remember when this used to be a place where poor people shopped? Since when do you have to be rich to go to a Goodwill?! Do you want to raise the prices, lower the organization, and now they have the nerve to have undercover store narcs following you around to make sure you donât steal the clothes they got for free. And why is there still only one dressing room open? Itâs not like theyâre sanitizing the dressing rooms between customers, so why not open the mall?! Oh wait, God for bid you have three people ringing the bell to try clothes on instead of one. Hereâs an idea leave the freaking dressing rooms open! Please just reeks of greed, poor taste and utter distain for the people who the store was originally intended for. By the way, ever think people might donate their nice clothes so that people less fortunate might be able to wear Nice clothes to? Who are you raising your prices for, who exactly is your target customer there? The rich poor people. âKids clothes three dollars unless theyâre nice and then weâre going to mark them up to $10 or $12. Shame on you. The people who are deciding the prices should be ashamed of themselves and lose their jobs immediately. Go trade...
Read moreMy first time at this store and sadly it was a poor experience. Everything was fine - store well laid out, nice display units, spacious and fairly easy to shop... However, when it came to checking out the 2 staff members working that day decided to make several snarky, passive-aggressive and sarcastic comments about and to my children and their friends. If you have a problem with how someone behaves in your store then you should address it professionally and in a timely manner not wait an hour and then at check-out, gleefully shame them in front your line of waiting customers. If you'd like to let children know their behavior in your store is not appropriate then perhaps you should do it earlier on in the visit and not attempt to shame them when they're trying to be helpful and put away a shopping cart. You seemed very pleased with yourself, sir... Well done - You successfully shamed two 8 year old girls, though not their exhausted mother who worked an overnight and then drove her kids and their friends an hour away to go to the trampoline park as their one vacation treat.
Everyone is doing their best - a little grace and kindness goes a long way... but don't worry - we won't be back and will stick with our lovely thrift stores...
