Edit (November 2025): My lease concluded at the end of July 2025. I received a partial security deposit refund in November 2025, but no itemized statement of charges or communication was provided prior to that. Under the North Carolina Tenant Security Deposit Act, landlords are required to return the deposit or provide an itemized accounting within 30 days of lease termination, or within 60 days if additional time is needed. I’m sharing this update to make future tenants aware of my experience with the deposit timeline and communication.
I’m so happy I made the decision to move into NOVI Flats in downtown Concord! I worked with Daèzha, who’s been great throughout the leasing, move in, and resident experience. The access to downtown shops, restaurants, and events is exactly the type of environment my girlfriend and I were looking for in our next move. Read moreMy husband lived in these apartments and moved out in July. Since then, he has never received his security deposit back. He called the office multiple times — always politely — to ask about it, and got nothing but confusing and inconsistent answers. First, they said they didn’t know where to send the deposit (even though no one ever asked for a forwarding address). Then, two weeks later, they claimed they sent it to his old address — the very apartment he moved out of. When he asked for a tracking number or proof, no one could provide anything or seemed to know what was going on.
He left a review about this, and instead of resolving the problem, someone from the office contacted him asking to remove it and promised to fix the issue. The issue was never fixed, so the review is coming back — along with mine.
On top of all that, the apartments themselves had major problems, including horrible smelling water that made it nearly impossible to shower without gagging.
