In short, HILI is great for people that want a quick and efficient workout. All the instructors are great (my favorites are Nai, Jonaliz, and Alisa Rivera). The facilities are clean and well kept.
Long Story Long:
Facilities: The facility is clean. The bathroom is always well kept, the workout area is in excellent condition, and the instructors are sure to place a wipe on each X-Former post workout for you to clean and the X-Former is well taken care of.
Instructors: The instructors are nice, have great energy, and are welcoming. They all have their own personality and spin on the class which is a plus so that the classes don't feel repetitive. One thing I LOVE is instructors like Jonaliz take the time to remember you, call you by your name, and motivate you. My favorite instructors are Nai, Jonaliz, and Alisa Rivera because they have great cuing, show the movement before the class starts and during the class. The owner, Anna, has always been welcoming and helpful. A big plus is that she also is an instructor. It is great to see a business owner believe/practice their craft/what they are selling (If you don't believe in it why should we).
Class: The classes are 50 minutes long and you're working the whole time. So if you are someone that uses the gym as a social hour, this is definitely not something to expect here (however, I have had the opportunity to chat and make friends before or after class). You walk in a you go to a carriage, you don't have one assigned to you but the classes are never overbooked! This is the perfect. I previously went to Crunch and spent just as much, if not more, time working out that I did waiting for a machine. If you're new definitely start with a FORM class. It's a beginner class but you still will sweat. If you are someone that is coming from a commercial gym note that they have equivalents exercises such as leg press, adductor, squats, hip thrusts, good mornings etc. There are poles and modifications if you're not able to do the movement without assistance, which is great. Music is playing the whole class while the instructor is teaching so the energy is upbeat. Because these classes can be difficult I often alternate between regular classes and FORM classes for recovery days.
I have brought my boyfriend, friends, and family here and they have all enjoyed it! Thank...
Read moreIf you are a beginner to this kind of workout or style of workout I do not recommend what so ever. ( I INJURED MYSELF) Unless you have been doing Pilates or strength training for YEARS.. I do not recommended this place. I took my first class april 25, I think the best thing about this place is the actual studio in terms of aesthetic. However, it’s now may and I am still healing from a knee injury I got from taking 1 class here months ago. We were never fully taught how to use the machine or basic information we should know about the reformer. I have been taking Pilates for almost a year now at CP and I was shocked at the lack of information provided about the reformer.. in a reformer based class. We did not warm up our bodies what so ever the class started with planks on the reformer. We never stretched or did any light form of warm up. The class was not beginner friendly, I noticed the instructor struggling to demonstrate workouts she was trying to get us to do… how can you teach something you can’t even do yourself as an instructor. The cues were terrible. I looked around and everybody looked as confused as I was. My friend who also took the class with me agreed that she felt very unsafe in the majority of the workouts we did. I’m so disappointed places like this exist, I have been going to the gym for over 7 years recently started Pilates at club Pilates and I have never once gotten an injury like this. I have a torn meniscus (knee). I know it was this class with their unsafe workouts and lack of warm up or proper cues that injured me. If you want to try Pilates please go anywhere else or do more research before taking...
Read moreI have been coming to HiLi Fitness @ Lake Nona for a little over a year now. I had just started my fitness journey and I wanted to try new workouts to keep my routine interesting. After taking my first class with Bre (who is amazing, supportive and genuinely great energy!) I knew that although the workout + heat was challenging, this was something I was determined to do. Fast forward 1 year & countless hot mat classes later, I had decided to become an instructor! I knew that the method of teaching I wanted to learn was what I fell in love with at HiLi.
I am so glad that the studio offers certification courses and community support throughout your journey to becoming an instructor! A fun, knowledge packed, intense 3 day weekend filled with good people, amazing instructors who are there for you in and out of the sessions, and lots of workouts! I think what I enjoyed most was the practical hands on element that we got to experience in small groups and then in a normal Hot Mat class size. Bre & David were honestly the best instructors I could have asked for on this journey. Kudos to Bre & David + HiLi on putting together a training program that left me feeling ready to...
