Edit: After this second time I had to change my review of 3 years ago. All the problems of before have been corrected and this experience was awesome. Will, our server, was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing and I observed that this seemed to be a norm now which is great. I do think that he may have been the best server there though. Food was execellent and came out quickly with enough pacing to finish. So my rating has gone to 5 stars now. To start, I think that with a little more time this will be a 5 star review, but given my first experience 3 is fair. I went with my wife on the day after the grand opening, towards the end of lunch. We were seated and waited a little bit longer than I feel is appropriate for the server to take our drink order. I asked about a drink I was not familiar with and the server also was not. The trend of waiting continued, but it was quite busy. The soup had good flavor, but was served room temperature. The sushi roll I had was excellent, the atom bomb roll. The tenpenyaki took the longest to be served, but our server did express that they were behind, when we did get it, the flavor was good. The food was enjoyable, but a little pricey and I feel overall the experience dampened the flavor.

Great sushi in a nice room. The ambiance is nice, and the food made well. You have a lot of different choices and they were also willing to cater to make something that was not on the menu, for instance a Kani salad, I described what I wanted in it and they delivered. The hot stone Wagyu was a hit and I highly recommend it! I will certainly come back. They get busy around dinner time so it's best to make reservations earlier on. *Update* deducted 1 stars - called to make reservations, was left on hold for 13 minutes, yes 13 minutes after which I was told reservations are not accepted and will just get added to the wait list when you walk in. That was a waste of my time. After arriving at 930 there was still a 40 minute wait. The establishment is still doing 50% capcity and distancing the tables which I think is a little absurd especially when its busy, you only accept walk-ins which there's a 40 minute wait and 9:30 and the closure of the business is listed as 10:30. Most places are back to full capacity. You are losing business, I amongst several others observed, walked right back out and went somewhere else.

I had no idea this place was so good! I drive pass it all the time (I live in the area) and finally went to this restaurant today. The first thing that took my breath away was the atmosphere. BEAUTIFUL, modern, aesthetic, ZEN, and CLEAN. Light, calm music made me feel so relaxed. The menu had a wide variety of selections and the service was impeccable. I had the orange bowl roll. And let me tell you, presentation was out of this world! Price point was EXCELLENT. And the taste.. omg… the taste, probably the best sushi I’ve ever had. I usually get sushi in Kissimmee and I LOVE what I get there but THIS ONE knocked the ball out the park for me! Definitelyyyy a 10! Now I know if I don’t feel like driving to Kissimmee I now have a local DELICIOUS sushi spot. (I’ve been to others in lake Nona and was not impressed. This one is a YESS! Again, the price point was so good for the delicious food and the relaxing atmosphere. Thank you for being affordable, delicious and high end vibes. Love!

Unfortunately my family and I had a horrible experience at this establishment last night. I am still in shock of the ill treatment the poor customer service & the quality of the food. It was awful table was dirty & so was the silverware. My waitress never identified herself no name tag . We waited a really long time after placing our full orders before we started to receive our appetizers. It was a mess food started coming in at different times & Luke warm but the plate was hot. My family and I waited a really long time for our food for it to be not fresh .Chicken teriyaki was over cooked tuff & dry.Taste was ok . I asked for the waitress being that she seemed to have disappeared she had way too many tables and it was obvious she did not like us . She never checked on us to make sure we were good after bringing us cold food.I had to get up to ask for manager that was another mess he starts to get into it with me after expressing my concerns .Everyone’s food came to the table room temperature that is unacceptable this was my first & last time ever I will not return. Manager finally suggests to make it over and that the food was fresh the first time .Not professional by the way. I replied yes he comes back like 10 mins later . It seemed a bit better but I know it wasn’t fresh my family ate their food mainly because we were all very hungry at this point I was over it . I tried not to be confrontational. I had to ask for the bill waitress couldn’t care less never seem to be bothered by our body language never apologized it was awful . So much was wrong all I expected was good customer service ,and great hot food ,especially when the food here is costly . I had to ask waitress about my bill being that none of us were pleased with our experience or food quality. She the bill back and brought with a $11.70 off a $144. Plus bill . Honestly I wasn’t looking for a discount, I just wanted better communication an apology & hot fresh food.Usually managers handle these situations a bit differently . No one seemed to care left there super disappointed .So much was wrong and yet we still stayed and tried to make the best of it. It definitely felt incredibly awkward an obvious that we were not welcomed and everyone else’s order was more important than ours especially the delivery orders, how...

Very disappointed. We’ve been 3 times and I have reserved judgement until now. Plan to spend a minimum of 3 hours here.

First visit: It was opening day so we expected slower service and maybe some confusion. We were seated quickly, drinks beyond the water provided on the table (1 coke and 1 tea) took almost 20 minutes to arrive. Soup and salads came about 10 minutes later. 1/2 appetizers came after 3/4 of our hibachi meals. 1 appetizer never came. 1 meal came 10 minutes after the others and was wrong. The rice and noodles were ice cold and I never got the chicken. The salads had almost no dressing and when the table asked for extra on the side it never came. We chalked it up to opening day and a new restaurant. BUT this is not a brand new concept, just a new location.

Second Visit: Just two this time, and we went right as the doors opened for dinner at 5:00. Sat right away, order taken quickly. Still there over an hour.

Third visit: Went in expecting to wait a while. Non-water drinks came out pretty quickly. A sprite had something black floating in it and was asked to be replaced. After 45 minutes, and a second request still no sprite. Still at 45 minutes into sitting at the table, we still had no soups, salads, or any of the multiple appetizers that were ordered. Finally we requested they box our meals as we needed to be back to work and would have to just scarf them down there. That’s when the manager (maybe? Never introduced herself as such) came over and asked what our orders were. They hadn’t even started them! There were only 2 tables in there ahead of us! When asked for a realistic timeline of when we could have them boxed and be walking out the door with our (now) to go orders. She would t answer, kept avoiding the question. When we finally asked if 5 minutes was a realistic time frame, putting it at over an hour by this point, she said no. Mind you, STILL no salads, soups, or replacement Sprite. We had no choice but to leave and hope a drive through line was short enough.

Too Long, didn’t read: The food isn’t bad if, 1. You ever get it. 2.it isn’t cold 3. If you can spare a minimum of 3...

Disappointingw Experience: Questionable Customer Service

I recently visited Maki Hibachi and unfortunately had an extremely disappointing experience. From the moment we encountered an issue with our food, it became apparent that the management's approach to customer service left much to be desired.

Upon receiving our order, we discovered that a portion of the food was undercooked and inedible. Naturally, we requested the dish to be re-baked or replaced. However, the restaurant staff flatly refused to accommodate our request, insisting on providing a refund instead. What shocked me was not just their refusal but also the difficult time they gave us during the process.

What made this experience particularly disheartening was the suspicion that this incident was racially motivated. As a person of color, I couldn't help but wonder if the owner's actions were influenced by discriminatory views. While it's difficult to prove intent, the way we were treated left a lingering concern that our request for proper food preparation was dismissed solely due to our race.

As a result of this deeply unsatisfactory encounter, I have made the personal decision to never patronize Maki Hibachi again. Moreover, I feel compelled to share my experience with others, urging them to think twice before supporting this establishment. It is essential that businesses are held accountable for their actions, ensuring a fair and inclusive environment for all customers.

I hope that my review helps shed light on the incident I encountered and encourages Maki Hibachi to reflect on their customer service practices. Let's strive for a society where everyone is treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their background.

Please note that this review reflects my personal experience and perception. Others may have had different encounters at...
