First, I would like to say that I grew up in Kingsport, TN and there is a very nice Aldi there that is well kept and clean and my wife and I would buy everything there, but this store is different. I am sorry to say that the last two times I have been here shopping at this Cookeville Aldi the meat aisl was VERY unkempt. There were too many fresh chicken packs out, and a few of them had torn, and raw meat juice was running on the shelf. Apparently it had been this way for a while, because most of the fresh chicken packs were liquidy to the touch because of the other torn packs. I told the manager and the employees about it, and they said they would have someone clean it up and keep it up better, but when me wife went shopping a week later, to her horror, it was in the same state. She tried to grab a pack of meat, and her hand got raw meat juices on them. Because of this, my wife and I will no longer buy any meet at Aldi. We still shop there for other items, but because of their poor sanitary conditions in the meat aisl we will no longer buy meat there. If they leave thier meat aisl like that, I wonder what is done behind closed doors in the back at this Aldi in Cookeville. I hope that Aldi corprate sends someone to clean up this store so my wife and I can feel safe to buy meat there. We have never had this problem at...
Read moreI’ve been shopping at this Aldi for years. It has always been efficient and an overall great experience, especially compared to other grocery stores. The store was laid out very logically and allowed people to move through without getting clogged/confused. This store has now switched its entire layout. Rice is by the cheese, the bargain aisle splits the food in half, seasonings are out by themselves. Absolutely nothing makes any sense. People are clogging the aisles due to backtracking and confusion. There is no “flow” to the store anymore. I would compare the layout to a dollar general, but somehow DG has it more down pat than Aldi at this point. As people in Tennessee might say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. The lack of logic and organization is a deal breaker for me, as Aldi was always the peaceful and quick place to shop. It is now chaotic, stressful, and overall terrible in comparison to...
Read moreWhen we lived in Florida a few years ago, ALDI quickly became our favorite place to grocery shop. So when we found out Cookeville had one, it felt like a big win.
They’ve got a solid lineup of staple item including pre-cooked items that make life way easier for me and my family on busy nights. The prices are consistently affordable, and they always seem to have deals running, which helps stretch the grocery budget.
One thing to note: ALDI keeps things super efficient, and that means fewer staff on the floor. So while the customer service isn’t always fast or super hands-on, it’s part of how they keep costs down. Most of the checkout process is self-serve, though someone is always nearby if you need help.
It’s conveniently located right off Jefferson Avenue. If you haven’t shopped here yet, I definitely recommend stopping by you might be surprised at how much you can save without...
