Overall decent gym, worked out here for a couple years but I decided to switch gyms recently. The equipment is decent and there's a good selection, actually a lot of useful machines that other gyms in Cookeville don't own. But I really dislike the bench presses they have, and it's my favorite movement so it's disappointing. They only have two benches, one is terrible to use (slippery, narrow, and very low to the ground) and the other one is okay, but the rack is slanted and it's almost always being used by someone seeing as it's the only decent bench press in the gym. The entire dumbbell/bench press area is EXTREMELY small and cramped, feels awkward to lift in. I think if they switched the placement of the bench presses with some of the machines on the other side of the wall then it wouldn't be as bad, but it's not very enjoyable the way that it is right now. They have a safety squat bar and a deadlift bar, which I'm a huge fan of using both so that's great. But a lot of the normal barbells they own are at least a little bent, if not extremely bent. This is probably from the heavy rack pulls I often see members doing. In my opinion, it would be better if they had dedicated bars for rack pulling so the bars would be kept in better condition. In conclusion, I like the gym, but I think it could be better in a lot of ways. They offer $5 day passes (as far as I know) so feel free to go and try the gym for yourself. I know I said I lot of negative things about it in this review, but I think it's still a good gym and deserves a try if you're in Cookeville and looking for a gym. They have tons of members with amazing physiques (including the owners) so it...
Read moreI have good friends who are personal trainers at Absolute Fitness, and I can honestly say they’re the real deal. They’re not just your average trainers they’re professionals with deep knowledge in fitness, nutrition, and bodybuilding. Many of them compete at a high level, and what really stands out is how personally invested they are in each of their clients goals.
The gym itself has a great mix of commercial machines and free weights. There’s also an upstairs area with plenty of space and equipment to keep things fresh. What I really respect is their variety of programs not just for adults, but for kids too. It’s clear they care about building a healthy community, not just a large membership base.
If you check it out, ask for Allison or Chris based on your trainer preference. They truly walk the walk, and talk the talk. You’ll be in...
