I'm always looking for another Mexican restaurant. I love the flavors and dishes of Latin America. I had read really good things about Casa Grande and wanted to see how they stacked up in the Mexican restaurant world. I like their salsa; it was very fresh. They have a cheese/bean dip that I like too. I was really excited to see not only fish tacos on the menu, but a variety of fish tacos! I ordered the ones with grilled tilapia, pico de gallo, cilantro and a mango topping that could be added if you wanted. I added the mango topping, and if I hadn't have done that, I couldn't have taken the spice. The tacos didn't have any flavor profile, just heat. They came with a side of rice, also had no flavor at all. I would definitely not order this dish again. My mom ordered the Tacos Carnitas. They weren't as spicy, but still didn't have very much flavor. It was my birthday week, so we ordered a flan to share. It was okay but you could tell that it was overwhipped and slightly overbaked. I've traveled in Latin America and know what a good flan is. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with this restaurant. Maybe it was just a bad day. We might try it again though.

Edit: We had heard that Casa Grande was under new management and some changes had been made to the menu. I was worried because was our "go-to" Mexican restaurant in Cookeville. So we went back today with a little trepidation. I am pleased to report it's just as good as it's always been. Maybe a little better. My wife had the Carne Asada that had so much food she will get three meals out of it. I had the Pollo Vallarta. It is chicken, chorizo, shrimp and pineapple served in a cast iron skillet with melted queso. (See photo) It was fantastic. The pineapple was diced small and add just the right amount of sweet to savory. If you liked this place before you have nothing to worry about with the new management. [End edit] This has become our "go to" place for Mexican food. I like that they give you cheese/bean dip along with salsa for free when you're seated. Everything I've ordered has been really good and the staff provides excellent service.

I absolutely loved this place! I could tell from pics that it was a nice dining space, and then my husband and I were very impressed with the top notch service. They were very friendly and prompt to fill our waters and bring food out, ask how everything was, etc. But the food!! If I could give extra starts I would. I ordered the Enchiladas Ranchero and I was blown away with how tasty they were (seriously so good!!) We liked the food so much we decided to order dessert too and got the Caramel Churros with ice-cream, also very tasty. Can’t wait to go again! Oh and I’m impressed with their very reasonable prices as well. And their dining room was very clean which I always appreciate as well. Everything I look for in a great restaurant 👍

I usually do not do this because I do know people have bad days and reviews truly impact a business however I truly felt the need to share some very sketchy things myself and a coworker experienced today.

#1 when we got our meal they BOTH came without one of the sides listed on the menu — when we addressed our server her response was that unfortunately we would have to pay a upcharge to get that side as well they just failed to update the menu. When my coworker explained that ultimately it says it comes together on the menu the waitress replied “unfortunately things are going up in price so they are limiting what they give you rather it’s on the menu or not” very rudely. Yes we understand things are going up however you can not just put a price beside something and not give customers what they THINK they are paying for.

#2 seemed to be our biggest issue yet. When we went to check out the bills she gave us was $3.90 MORE than the asking price PLUS taxes (as expected). I looked at the final price and compared it to the menu - nothing special added (we received LESS than expect as stated above) — clearly the cost was right on the menu however when we asked the waitress about this she simply stated the prices of their food has gone up and the menu just does not reflect that yet because “everything is going up in America” as she stated again. I honestly did not have time to address this with anyone over this waitress because I had to be back at work however I will not be returning to this restaurant and I did want to warn others regarding this issue. I do not mind to pay for food, but to just throw random prices out there when a customer is checking out AND just take things off the meal THAT IS ON THE MENU without any notice is very sketchy to me.

Hope this will help others atleast look at their bill before leaving & address the fraud going on at...

Yesterday, we celebrated a wedding at a competing Mexican restaurant in Cookeville. Eating there reminded me that Casa Grande is the best Mexican restaurant in Cookeville. Casa Grande is clean and smartly decorated. The service is great and the food fresh and superior. Yesterday, the competitor's veggie quesadilla was good, but not great. It was served with tasteless rice, shredded lettuce, sour cream and one tomato slice. The vegetables were slightly greasy and a bit over cooked. It was like eating institutional food. I've never had a meal like this at Casa Grande. Even the never ending supply of chips are fresher and salsa more flavorful at Casa Grande. The rice, beans, pico, lettuce and sour cream are flavorful and a great complement to the veggie quesadilla. In the future, if someone wants to eat at the competitor, I will object. Keep up the great work Casa Grande!

We certainly enjoy Casa Grande, especially under new ownership! Coco is a great server and the food is very satisfying and delicious. I get the Vegetable Quesadilla, and Molly the Vegetable Taco Salad. Highly recommend.

We had another great meal at Casa Grande last night with our siblings. Everyone's food was tasty and appreciated. Coco L was a great server, very attentive. we'll be back next weekend.

We love Casa Grande and eat here 2-3 times a month. We always order vegetarian, and usually get the fajitas, taco salad or quesadilla. Always great, service is fast and great. Prices reasonable, we highly recommend and feel it's the best Mexican restaurant in Cookeville.

Great restaurant; service, atmosphere, price. Highly recommend. We frequent 2-4 times a month, and enjoy...

*Update as of 2025: all below remains true. While they've updated decor and staff routinely changes, their service remains impeccable and it's one of the only places we frequent. Original review follows. We go here fairly routinely. We started going here to accommodate our little ones and their need to not wait forever to be seated or eat. Then, we kept going because the food is pretty good (American Mexican mostly, but the tacos are quite worthwhile). Now, we continue to go because the staff is always friendly, is always trying to not make you wait, and mostly is comprised of the same faces. They are a small business that deserves to remain in business just as much as the larger entities that are well established and always busy and packed. The vibe is that of a small Mexican restaurant and you either know what that is, or you will...when you go. I feel more at ease in an establishment like this. Ignore the facade as it does the restaurant no favors being in a grocery center complex and giant parking lot. Just walk through the door -- the inside feels like a chance to have a decent drink with some enjoyable food with some light music playing (and a few televisions for sports, too). And, if you are a lone wolf, they do have a small bar at the rear. *Also, restrooms are nothing to write home about, but I've never had qualms about my kids using them so at least they have been well serviced/maintained when we've needed them. Give it a try. It's a different vibe than the larger joints and that's a good thing. Just be sure to tip them...
