I don’t usually write reviews to criticize anyone, but to a point certain things should be voiced as well. I recently moved to the area and decided to transfer to AnokaRamsey since they had a major I preferred. I had really high hopes for this school, but unfortunately after last semester I don’t think I will be returning. I won’t say All, but MOST of the staffs there are rude and don’t appear like they ever want to help you. At 1st I thought maybe it’s just this particular person, maybe they’re just having a bad day, but as time went by many of them are just the same. It’s as if they hated their job or they just don’t care for the students there.
Since it was my 1st semester there, after taking the Accuplacer test I had ask the lady in charge there some questions about how transferring score to another MN institution works. She didn’t seem to understand the question as she didn’t know the answer and begin showing her frustration towards me. Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to just ignore the question and decided to do my own research on the AnokaRamsey website.
During that semester I decided to meet with my assigned counselor. Our appointment probably lasted about 10 minutes only. Besides a quick greeting of her name the rest of the meeting was pointless. Being prepared I printed my DAR’s for her, my University options for a BA degree with courses printed on there, and a list questions regarding the program I was planning to apply to at AnokaRamsey. Feeling rushed, out of all the questions and concerns I had ask her the only question she clarified was the process of applying for the major offered at AnokaRamsey. The rest, she avoided and said to contact the University for info. Well that was helpful I guess?
Another uncomfortable situation that concerned me was when I call the Transfer service department asking if they received my ACT Scores yet as they weren’t reflecting my DAR’s. 1st thing the lady said was, “why will it reflect your DAR’s when your scores won’t get you anywhere anyways”. Mind me.. Yes, I received a low score, but I don’t think that was right choice of words that were spoken out of her mouth. All I ask is for her to check if AnokaRamsey received my scores, not how incapable I am as a student. After repeating my question she then put me on hold for few minutes and finally told me that yes they received my scores, but it will not be on my DAR’s. I’m unsure as to why it wouldn’t be on my DAR’s since I never had an issue with a prior MN Community College before, but I’m not going to ask. I hope this review will allow higher up’s to please remind and provide better training and professionalism to their staff. Even if staffs are having a bad day, at least smile—a smile still brings a lot...
Read moreI have taken generals over the years here and those professors were always great. Since Spring semester of 2024 I have been in the LPN to RN MANE program. My one star review is in regard to the nursing staff, program, and dean of nursing. Multiple students filing complaints about student favoritism, inconsistencies in tests (spelling errors, abbreviations), not getting any assignment grades back until the week prior to finals. All of it was dismissed and not seen as an issue. Appeals have been made on the decisions of said complaints, with yet again another denial. The nursing staff are not supportive of their students. It does not feel like they are here to help us succeed at all. I’ve never had to fight so hard for minimal respect. We get told we aren’t professional, and remind us we agreed to being professional when we took our seat in the program. But we can’t even get a test without spelling errors. It’s so disheartening. Especially after completing an LPN program at Anoka Tech and had a wonderful experience. I knew the program was going to be hard, but what we students are being put through on top of all the difficulties in the curriculum, is asinine. I have contemplated dropping out (even though I only have 1 semester left) just to start over at a new school where I can...
Read moreWhen you compare anoka ramsey to let’s say, Saint Thomas or the U, it’s pretty abysmal. It’s a very cheap school, the disability services and help they offer you is somewhat laughable. The classes are organized to be so incredibly stressful when they literally don’t have to be. Many teachers are great, but so many have watched me and other students slip through the cracks, especially during the pandemic.
They don’t even serve lunch in the cafeteria anymore btw.
Some of their programs are jokes, like the IHH course. Please do not take it unless you have a literal holistic job lined up or are already...
