The owner has no customer service skills. If you ask a question he will talk down to you. He contradicts himself and goes back on his words. He's rude and unprofessional. I would rather lose my deposit than to have to deal with an owner like him for any event. I did not have my event at his venue due to his condescending attitude. He scolded me about a question I asked about the liquor. First he said I was allowed to bring someone to bartend for my event as long as they had a liquor license.- When we met to sign the contract. When I told him I had someone he said no you can't you have to use my bartender.- When i spoke to him on the phone. Which he was charging $125 per hour for us to use his bartender. When I asked him what I could bring for liquor/supplies he blew up on me.- My third time speaking to him. Never had a problem with him before then. He told me I had to control my guests so no one yelled at him the day of the event if he cut someone off. He told me I wanted the bar open for too many hours- Which he knew from the beginning since we signed the contract how many hours the bar would be open for. He stated he was going to reduced my hours of the bar being open due to the lack of my understanding of MN rules. As if I couldn't or didn't understand the rules of having liquor at an event. I have worked as a banquet sever for 10 years and have held many events throughout my life at different venues. I have never had any issues with liquor being served. I clearly understand MN rules and have no issues following them but he stated I didn't because I let him know I didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me. Instead of him trying to make the situation or misunderstanding better. He told me I wasn't taking what he was saying seriously and he was going to reduce my hours for no justified reason. Just because he felt like it. I decided to cancel my event to not have to deal with him. I could not have imagined how he would have acted the day of my event if he was already making things difficult before the day of or how he would treat me and my guests on such an important day. He is not doing us a favor he is charging us. He obviously does not know how to do business. I have worked in the customer service industry for many years and would have never spoke to any paying guests the way he did. Read moreI recently hosted an event at this hall, and I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am. The owner was incredibly rude and unprofessional from the moment we started talking. The communication leading up to the event was frustratingly poor — phone went unanswered, and when I did manage to speak with him, he was dismissive and condescending. The day before the event, he requested separate payment that was not part of the contract, for speaker use, kitchen use and "refundable" security deposit of $500 for a total of $800 in extra payment. He demanded the payment must be made or otherwise he won't allow us to use the hall. Since we didn't have any option at that point we went ahead and paid everything he demanded, with the least expectation that our security deposit would be refunded, given everything is left in good condition. Well, everything was left in perfect condition, yet here we are weeks later with no deposit returned. On the day of the event, there were multiple issues with the venue, from the lack of basic supplies to the overall cleanliness of the space. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty, and the handwash water was not working, rusty and seemed an abandoned place. Despite multiple follow-ups via text and phone calls, the owner has been completely unresponsive and dodging any responsibility. When I did manage to get a response, I was met with incoherent, contradicting false claim that there was a popcorn left on the floor, which he said he would calculate the cleaning fee and return the rest of the money. Which he hasn't. When I addressed these concerns with the owner, he became defensive and rude. It became clear that the owner has no intention of refunding our deposit, and now we’re out the money we worked hard to save for this event. Read moreBeautiful venue. Terrible customer service. The air conditioner didn’t work and my brother worked with the issue due to the fact the owner was out of town. My brother lost his deposit due to the fact two bottles of champagne and a water bottle was left... not a problem. However he started texting my sister in law about how the place was trashed and he thought the DJ used his equipment. He was rude and threatening. He even threatened to take them to court yet, a two hour extension was paid, the deposit was kept and an additional $200 was paid due to the “trashing” (water bottle and two champagne bottles) of the place. He later apologized for the court remark but text her again once she left an honest review. We have text messages to prove all correspondence. Sir, according to Minnesota law Section 609.749 you are completely out of order. Not only will we counter sue you if litigation takes place, your scare tactics will not work. He is trying to take advantage of a young couple. We will never use this venue nor refer anyone to use it. He even brought race into play as if the world and its race relations aren’t tense enough in the present moment. Your business tactics are trash.
